PC Classic Transport Tycoon Now on iOS

The classic PC game Transport Tycoon has officially made its way to the AppStore, this past weekend. While we have seen previous attempts at an iOS release via OpenTTD, this release comes from original developer Chris Sawyer, so it won’t be pulled like the 3rd party attempts. Players will be presented with 49 scenarios to play through, as they work to build and manage their transport company, and be come the Transport Tycoon.

If you’re new to the game, Transport Tycoon puts you in charge of controlling a full fledge transportation business, in the style of SimCity. It is your goal to set up routes for buses, trains, etc. to keep your passengers happy, all while making money to keep things going. This release will put you right into the classic game, down to the original look and sounds.

Transport Tycoon is a universal release available on the AppStore for $6.99. While reviews aren’t looking that great right now, it is a 0.1.0 release, meaning there is bound to be bugs at this time. Being as Chris Sawyer was also the man behind Rollercoaster Tycoon, here’s hoping this catches on and he brings an official Rollercoaster Tycoon to iOS next.
