HTC Sense 6 Details Continue To Leak: Cleaner, More Polished.

Android skins used to be the most awful, atrocious pieces of garbage to ever grace an Android device. But over the last year and a half or so, things have actually gotten better. While Samsung still needs to learn a thing or two about UI design, the added functionality and features are moving from gimmicky to useful. Similarly, HTC’s own software isn’t as bad as it once was. While it’s not quite as heavy on features as Samsung, the UI is far more pleasing (in our opinion anyway). That said, these manufacturers (and others) are beginning to put a much heavier focus on good UI design so much so that we’re watching the skins slapped on top Android change more than ever before.

HTC’s Sense skin went from loved to hated and clunky and now back to growing a bit long in the tooth. Mind you, Sense 5.x hasn’t been available that long. Still, it’s a testament to how fast the mobile world moves. So it’s of no surprise that we’re starting to see rumors and little leaks of Sense 6 – the next iteration of HTC’s in-house software.

The most prolific leaker of said wares so far has been @LlabTooFer whom has shared a few small images and plenty of little tidbits. The image you see above, if real, shows that HTC is finally moving away from hardware navigation buttons which Google abolished several Android versions ago. In addition to the visual treats, LlabTooFer says that Sense 6 is a further refinement of 5.x in that things are more polished and are more carefully matched throughout the UI. That’s not to say some new design tweaks might come in. LlabTooFer says an iOS 6-like status bar coloring may be employed for certain apps.

As for hardware, it’s looking more like a Snapdragon 800 instead of the newer Snapdragon 805 will be employed (to meet launch time frame of February to early March) as well as your pretty typical flagship specs throughout: 2 GB of RAM and 1080p 5-inch display. Though, the main rear-facing camera rumors still paint it as a 4-6 megapixel UltraPixel type. For the pixels it has to work with, the UltraPixel is pretty decent. But when it’s competing against the likes of Sony, Samsung, LG and Microsoft (among others) who all employ cameras with a substantially higher amount of megapixels, there’s not much to get excited about.

Even though LlabTooFer has voiced his wish to not divulge too many of Sense 6′s and the new HTC M8/Two’s secrets, we have no doubt that such things will eventually make their way online before HTC’s official blessing. That’s just how it works these days.
