NSA Intercepting Laptops Ordered Online and Installing Spyware

As if we needed more bad news out of the NSA.

According to Der Spiegel and based on internal NSA documents, the NSA is reaching even further in to our personal lives.

As if hacking our cell phones and home computers wasn’t bad enough, they are now hacking computers you don’t even own yet.

According to the report, the NSA, in conjunction with the CIA and FBI, has begun intercepting laptops purchased online in order to install spyware and even hardware on the machines. The NSA terms this “interdiction.” Agents divert shipments to secret warehouses, carefully open the packages, install the software and/or hardware, and sends them back out to you.

The NSA has an elite hacking unit called the TAO (Tailored Access Operations) who is the NSA’s cyber-warfare intelligence-gathering unit.  This is who is carrying out this operation.

Along with this, the NSA has admitted to having “back door” access to major hardware and software systems from companies like Dell, Cisco and Western Digital.  They have even been known to hack your computer through weak points that are pointed out through Windows error reports.

With the NSA taking such bold steps to intentionally strip us of our privacy and working with companies like the NRO (The US National Reconnaissance Office) who’s motto is, “Nothing is beyond our reach,” will there ever be such a thing as privacy ever again?
