Airtel Unveils QR Code Based Mobile Recharge For Andhra Pradesh

With an aim to make mobile recharge easy and error free, Bharti Airtel has launched paper recharge coupon with Quick Response Code (QRC). Instead of entering the 16 digit PIN after scratching the coupon, users will have to simply scan the QR code to recharge their phone.

Dubbed as  Smart Pack Recharge Coupon,the service which is currently available only in Andhra Pradesh works on Android phones. To recharge using ‘Smart Pack’ you will need to download the QR Code Reader’ app on your Android phone from the Google Play Store.On your android phone, install. After scratching the coupon code you will only need to scan the code with the app and complete the recharge. The Airtel Smart Pack is currently offered as a coupon priced at Rs 25, which allows the users to choose 2G or 3G data benefits.

QR Codes have failed to become popular in India however it was considered as next big thing in mobile advertising few years back. In 2012, WeChat had launched QR codes which served as the user’s identity. I feel this is good move by Airtel as typing a 16 digit number for mobile recharge is truly a hassle. Let’s hope that the company soon rolls out this QR Code recharge in other states as well.
