HTC Launches 5 Inch HTC One (M8) With Gesture Control and Dual Camera

HTC has unveiled a new flagship phone  HTC One (M8) that will a successor to the popular HTC One. The device boasts a 5 inch screen with full HD (1080p) display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Wrapped in a solid metal  body, HTC One (M8) is powered by a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and 2GB RAM. The phone will be available in 16GB and 32GB internal storage variants with a microSD card slot that supports cards of up to 128GB capacity.

The device  runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat with the company’s brand new Sense 6 UI on top, which HTC is calling the biggest upgrade since Sense debuted. HTC will release the M8 in a variety of metallic colors, including gold, gray and silver. In terms of battery, the M8 has 2600 mAh capacity, and HTC says that’ll be good for up to 20 hours.

But perhaps one of the most impressive components of HTC’s new One is the camera. HTC aptly calls it Duo Camera as it captures information about the depth of objects in the scene alongside the actual image. This will allow users to easily select the background and foreground for editing, as well as adjust focus after the photo is taken. In addition to the dual camera, M8 also has a 5-MP wide-angle front facing camera with features like timer switch for enhanced selfies.

Moreover, taking a leaf from rival Samsung, the M8 comes with gesture recognition technology. Dubbed as ”Motion Launch,” the feature will enable users to lock and unlock the device with a double tap on the screen or activate it with a single swipe. The phone will also auto-answer calls whenever you lift it up to your ear.

The HTC One M8 is priced from $199 to $249 will be available in India from the third week of April, while it will go on sale in some countries on April 1.
