Microsoft Working On Next Generation ‘No Touch’ Screens and Gesture Interactive Display

Steve Jobs was a visionary who thought touch screens will be the future and boy was he right. Now, Microsoft is developing a new technology that does not involve any kind of touching. The software and tech company is working on a next generation technology that will allow you to control gadgets without having to touch the screen. Tablets, smartphone and even televisions can be controlled with their fingers even from the other side of the room with help of a screen.

Microsoft is making an electronic bracelet that can detect movements in a person’s fingers, allowing them to imitate the actions of poking and flicking the screen to operate a device. Rico Malvar, Microsoft’s chief scientist, said work has begun on new screens that can be manipulated without needing to approach a gadget.

With the help of this technology you can also control all the functions of a television like changing the channel, adjusting volume. It will also let you control you mobile phone with their hands in pocket. In addition to the ‘no touch’ screen technology, Microsoft has also launched a new “interactive display” a part of which is floating display. These displays gives the illusion of a globe spinning or a dragon flying, just inches above a flat monitor. Furthermore, cameras and motion sensors allow users to interact with these floating objects.  Another example of interactive displays is one where the user sitting in front of a large display shall see a series of cubes and they have to slip their hands into them to grab the objects.

According to Tim Large, a researcher from Microsoft Applied Sciences Group, the final version of these displays will be ready in two to five years.
