Opera Mini 8 for Blackberry & Java Updated With UI, Night Mode & More

Opera Software has beefed up Opera Mini browser for Java and Blackberry phones with an array of features. For starters, the browser features a flat, minimalistic design, as well as an improved Speed Dial start page. “Roughly half of our 250 million Opera Mini users are on basic phones, also called feature phones, and, today, their browser got even better,” said Christian Uribe, Product Manager, Opera Mini, Opera Software in a company blog post.

The latest update adds Private Mode and Night Mode to access the browser where the former supports private tabs that don’t save information once the open tab is closed while the uses dark colour at night to make browsing easy. This feature is really helpful for those phones that do not support automatic light dimming.Users can enable this feature via the Settings menu.

Opera Mini is known for compressing the data usage on your mobile and the update adds more improvements to this feature. The data usage page now appears as a new menu item not only lets users monitor their data usage, but also allows them to adjust settings such as the quality of images without having to even exit the page.

Opera  Mini for basic phones was updated in June last year with download manager and improved privacy setting. Meanwhile, last month Opera Software had launched Sponsored Webpass for new mobile data users
