Tata Sky Extends Everywhere TV App To Android

Direct To Home (DTH) operator Tata Sky has extended its ‘Everywhere TV’ Service to Android users.

The app was available on the iPhone previously. The company had showcased the platform well over 2 years ago.

What does the Everywhere TV service entitle? The service is truly a new way to consume televised content on the go. Active Tata Sky users using the App available on Google Play Store as well as iTunes, will be able to avail On–Demand content, watch streaming channels and even pull old episodes for repeat viewing.

Apparently the iOS launch was a test to judge the public reaction and acceptance of the concept of watching premium or subscribed televised content, shared Vikram Mehra, Chief Commercial Officer at Tata Sky,

“The demand for Everywhere TV has been spectacular since its launch. People are spending a lot of time outside homes and are today experimenting with options to consume videos using different screens. Everywhere TV, is the solution to have easy access to all their favorite television shows on their mobile handsets, anywhere and everywhere”

The response has been truly an eye–opener for other DTH operators. An official statement from the company confirmed that over 1 Lakh subscribers extended their subscription to cover Everywhere TV, within just 2 weeks of its official launch. The company claims that the service is now actively used by almost 5 Lakh users.

On Demand Television is an engaging concept that is truly a money–spinner for all the parties involved. At just Rs. 60 per month, the subscription is quite affordable for the viewers. Whereas, the Telecom Service Providers, are content that their Mobile Data will be consumed in large quantities. Finally, the televised content aggregators can easily recycle the content for re–consumption. With Tata Sky’s Everywhere TV getting such a response, wonder how long will other companies take to bring out similar apps.
