UC Browser Surpasses 500 Million Users Globally

UC browser has touched a new milestone by crossing 500 million users worldwide. The Chinese browser from UC Web also revealed that out of these 500 million users, 300 million users are alone form Android.The company stated in a statement that UC browser holds 65 percent of China’s mobile browser market, followed by 32 percent market share in India as per StatCounter data.

“Success in China and India has given UCWeb the experience and momentum to further expand globally. Within the past year, UC Browser has seen significant growth in several of the fastest growing countries in terms of internet usage – Russia, Indonesia, Vietnam and the United States“, it added.

The 9-year old company claims its app has at least 10 percent market share in 10 countries worldwide. It further touted that it is currently working with 5,000 partners – including online service providers, app and game developers, and e-commerce merchants.

To celebrate the milestone, UC Browser has launched a new brand mascot. UC Web claims it has been redesigned to “better embody the faster and smarter web experience UC Browser delivers to its users”. In January this year, UC browser received a major update for Android with faster download, language support, image viewer, homescreen widget and few other features.  Last year, the UC browser had outpaced Opera to become number one browser in India. UCWeb plans to enrich the UC Browser ecosystem with more add-ons and app focused on different regions. One example of this approach is UC Browser’s newly launched train enquiry service in India that gives users an easy, one-stop solution for checking train status and ticketing information.
