Facebook Will Remove In-App Chat For Both iOS And Android Apps

Facebook has announced that it will be removing the messaging feature from its main mobile app on both iOS and Android. The company is going this to get people to use Facebook Messenger on these platforms. When you think of it, the messages feature on the main Facebook app was pretty redundant.. when the company released Messenger. Removing this redundancy is good and moreover, Facebook Messenger is far superior product when it comes to messaging.

Although the company hasn’t said when it is going to take this step… it seems users in Europe are already seeing the changes. Other users will soon get this updated Facebook app. The reason Facebook is doing this is because they think they can provide a far better experience for mobile users to message each other rather than bundling an inferior product into its main app.

This move will not really be welcomed by many users, as many have reacted negatively to Facebook’s changes in the past. But I think overall, it is a good decision by the company towards making its services simple. This decentralization of Facebook services is great because not everyone wants to use Facebook just for newsfeeds. Messaging is also pretty important in the contexts on modern day smartphone users and it definitely makes sense to give these experiences separate spaces.
