Junior Achievement Career Fair Set for April 30
Everyday, over 900,000 companies in the Pittsburgh region contribute to our area’s growth and progress. It is important to educate our youth about the opportunities these companies provide and about our local workforce to ensure our young people remain in the Pittsburgh area and choose career paths where they can be successful.
On April 30th, 2014, Junior Achievement (JA) will provide students with the unique chance to learn about a number of local employers and the career opportunities they offer at Duquesne University’s Power Center. JA’s Annual Career Fair is hopeful that 1,200 elementary school students will gain a first-hand look at the world of work and the companies that help our region grow. At this event, students will serve as “job seekers”, asking representatives from over 30 local companies what it takes to work at their company and why they would be interested in pursuing a career in that industry.
The goal of JA’s Career Fair is to educate local fifth grade students about various career paths in the Pittsburgh area. Employers communicate information regarding their field, such as entry-level skills, training required, and salary range to help students make educated choices about their future career and educational pathway.
