Google Home Max adds more BOOM to your Room
Google is betting big this year on their Home line up. They announced the Google Home Mini today which compacts the Google Home experience into a smaller package with a smaller price tag. Essentially helping everyone get total home coverage for a fraction of the cost. Along with the Home Mini, Google went big, really big, with the announcement of the new Google Home Max.
As the name would suggest, this is the big dog for the living room, bedroom or back deck. The Google Home Max measures in at 13.2 inches x 7.4 inches x 6.0 inches. Inside its acoustically transparent fabric covered poly-carbonate housing you will find two 4.5 inch high-excursion dual voice-coil woofers and two 0.7 inch custom tweeters.
Just like all other Google Home products, this one caters to your OK Google command and can control other things in your home as well. They packed some smart features into this one too. It carries with an ambient light sensor and orientation sensor. The later of the two is what helps the Home Max adjust its sound based on its surroundings and music style you are listening to at the time. The unit connects traditionally through your Wi-Fi and the companion Google Home app, but also supports Bluetooth pairing and offers up a AUX jack as well.
The big brother of the line comes at you with a fairly respectable price tag of $399 and is available for order today through there Google Store. However, it appears the Google Home Max is already being waitlisted. Those of you that do pick it up will be granted 12 months of YouTube Red for free which equates to a $120 value. I know you are familiar with YouTube Red, but for those who aren’t, it is the subscription service that gives you ad-free YouTube viewing. It also gives you Red originals (original YouTube only content) and access to Google Play Music ad-free.
Which new Home product are you more likely to pick up? The Home Mini seems like the most logical choice for total coverage, but the Max certainly does help bring bigger sound to larger rooms.
