Fruit Shaper Sells Some Freaky Molds for Your Fruits and Vegetables

From the day we enter primary school, we are taught that apples are round and watermelons are shaped like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s head. But one company is already uprooting that notion.

Fruit Shaper was established in 2013 with the purpose of breaking some of those most basic truths. The company sells specialized molds affixed to the stems of fruits or vegetables. As the fruit grows, it contorts itself to fit the mold; effectively turning into the shape of the mold.

This is all well and good if you want a square apple or a heart-shaped melon, but Fruit Shaper even has a mold which shapes pears into babies. You read that right: babies!

Says the company:

“(Our) molds (are) constructed out of Polycarbonate plastic. This type of plastic material is fully transparent and non-toxic to humans or to nature and is strong enough to hold the (fruit) to shape as it grows. Included with the molds are all the nuts and bolts needed to properly assemble. All parts are designed for outdoor use and will last many growing seasons to ensure you get the most out of your mold.”

Apart from conventional shapes and the nightmare-inducing baby mold, there is also a mold that shapes apples and cucumbers into hearts (the figuratively-shaped ones), a star-shaped cucumber mold, and a mold that plasters a longevity man on some of nature’s most perfectly-shaped fruits.
