Model of the Week: Measuring CUBES [5 Cups of Awesome!]

Measuring CUBES?! Yes. Measuring cubes because, really, who has times for measuring CUPS. This just beat out the carabiner and desk organizer for best 3D printed tool of 2017 (and lines up with our goal to stop printing crap).

You know that drawer somewhere in the kitchen that needs dumped out every time you need a 1/2 teaspoon? Forget that. Next time, just dump it in the trash and replace that mess with a single measuring CUBE.

San Diego-based, Iomaa, published a design for several measuring cubes which simply and elegantly incorporate everything, from 1 cup to 1/4 teaspoon, into each of the cube’s six sides.

They used a MakerGear M2 with 0.1 layer at a 12% fill and no supports. Three versions are available with the largest using 101 g (37m) of 1.70 mm diameter PETG (food-safe) filament. And there are already a lot of comments on modifications, food safe filaments, and the correct quantity and origins of 1 cup.

Here are the three cubes available along with the size and measurement for each:
