These results indicated AITC may be most effective in the bladder as a cancer chemopreventive compound, as AITC at high-dose levels exhibited a low degree of cytotoxicity and genotoxicity in animal cancer studies.
 

Once again, the experiment reaffirmed the effect of AITC in the exhibition of many desirable attributes of a cancer chemopreventive agent.

In the reassessment of Allyl isothiocyanate (AITC) in the reduced risk of cancer, researchers at the National Chung Hsing University conducted an experiment to examine the effects of the phytochemical in the brain cancer cells.
In compared to other cancer cell lines inhibition, AITC significantly decreased proliferation and viability of human brain malignant glioma GBM 8401 cells in a dose-dependent manner with IC50 9.25+/-0.69 microM for 24 h-treatment.  

In cell differentiated assay, AITC induced significantly G2/M arrest and sub-G1 phase (apoptotic population) in GBM 8401 cells.

AITC markedly reduced the CDK1/cyclin B activity and protein levels which are responsible for cancer cell proliferation and survival.

Furthermore, AITC-induced apoptotic cell death through enhancing the proteins associated with cells death programming.

Dr. Chen NG, the lead scientists at the final report, said, “AITC is a potent anti-human brain malignant glioma drug and it shows a remarkable action on cell cycle arrest before a commitment for apoptosis is reached”.

Taken altogether, it is safe to suggest that Phytochemical Allyl isothiocyanate may be used as chemopreventive and functional phytochemical for high-risk of brain cancer individual and an adjunct therapy combined with primary medicine for the treatment of brain cancer.
