Helicoprion ancestors provide post-crania clues
Short one today,
as comparative anatomy based on the LRT phylogeny provides clues to the unknown post-crania of holocephalians for which only skulls and skull parts are known (Fig 1).

According to comparative morphology
post-cranially Helicoprion was probably more eel-like than shark-like. Not all holocephali were eel-like. Figure 1 shows only one lineage. Helicoprion is not currently tested in the LRT, but the more completely known Edestus is a tested taxon.
Short note for LRT followers.
The fish subset of the LRT has been undergoing revision after revision for about 18 months. The current 493 taxa are largely resolved at 60 MPTs. That means the identities of skull bones in all taxa are close to correct. Even so, it still needs work to get the fish subset down to 1 MPT.
