Huffington Post Compares Wealth of Multi Millionaire John Kerry to Scott Brown

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

New York, NY- Massachusetts Senate candidate Scott Brown is a wealthy conservative per the Huffington Post.  This false implication is the central point in a recent Huffington Post blog post.

The Huffington Post is citing wealth as an issue in the race.  They are attempting to frame Scott Brown as a wealthy republican candidate out of touch with the common man.  Scott Brown’s ownership of a small number mortgaged properties in Boston are being cited as a source of his wealth.

Massachusetts Senate Candidate Scott Brown owns a primary residence in the distant suburbs of Boston along with four investment property condominiums in Boston.  What the Huffington Post declines to mention is that all of the properties mentioned in the article have sizeable mortgages according to the Massachusetts Registry of Deeds website.  Hardly a wealthy candidate.  One could argue that Scott Brown is much like a great number of  other United State citizens – up to his eyeballs in mortgage debt.

The Huffington Post goes on to mention that Senator John Kerry’s wealth at $167 Million, implying embarrassment in even raising the issue of wealth in this race.

And it’s not money John Kerry made himself. He married it. It’s always easy to give away someone else’s money, something Senator Kerry does every day in Washington, as does his wife, who inherited all of her money.

I looked on the net on a real estate site. It reported that the median cost of a home in Massachusetts is $329,000.

A vote for Scott Brown is a vote for Freedom.

The Huffington Post article is NOT “citing wealth as an issue in the race”, rather it seeks to highlight the fact that while Scott Brown poses as a “regular guy” who drives a pickup truck, most “regular guys” don’t own one, never mind 5 homes, regardless of mortgage status. “Regular guys” do sometimes drive pickups, but the ones that I know rent studio or 1 bedroom apartments in East Boston, Lowell or Worcester, etc. — and have a difficult time coming up with even that much on the 1st of the month.

Scott Brown is a political lightweight with no vision (I know first hand, as I am from MA) and, speaking of wealth (earned or bought by) will be receiving monies from the KOCH BROS. thanks to Citizens United visited upon us by the activist SCOTUS. Senator John Kerry is wealthy and, more importantly, he is far better suited, if you will, to catapult this country forward, as oppose to a Scott Brown and his political ilk who would like to hurl us back to the turn of the century. The Congress (HOUSE) has suffered the lowest percentage rating that this country has ever been insulted with thanks to the 2010 TEA PARTY FRINGE radical’s gerrymandering laden election, and whose primary agenda is to shrink this nation to the size of Rhode Island. Furthermore, if one is so Unenlightened as to vote another GOP candidate to Congress, then one will get what one deserves; so let’s not lose site of who is better to serve this country–a party who is for voter suppression, shutting down our country (to the tune of 24 billion of the taxpayers’ dollars) (Ted Cruz, et al) against the rights of women, the poor, the elderly and our veterans and children. You choose. Remember all it takes is one catastrophic medical or financial event to find oneself looking for govt. assistance. So N.H. don’t be fooled by Scott Brown’s move to your state; he will NOT represent you well! Bev of Boston, MA
