Martha Coakley Scott Brown For Senate Poll Coakley May Surge

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Cambridge, MA- Coakley Campaign - Don’t count Martha Coakley out of the senate election against challenger Scott Brown – regardless of polls.  The Massachusetts Attorney General won a hard fought four way Democratic Primary to get where she is now and she is not conceding the election.

Current polls show the race is statistically too close to call.

Martha Coakley is a career prosecutor and former Middlesex district attorney.  She was elected Attorney General in her first statewide run for political office and is a seasoned politician.  She has heavyweight backing including Governor Deval Patrick, Senator John Kerry, Former President Bill Clinton as well as current President Barack Obama.

An astute argument in favor of Coakley for the open senate seat is her ability to leverage an already Democratically controlled Senate in order to bolster Massachusetts standing on the national stage.

Among her accomplishments was a successful litigation and subsequent settlement with Wall Street firms associated with the recent mortgage meltdown and economic turmoil of the past 18 months.

Martha Coakley has dedicated her career to public safety thru her numerous law enforcement positions.

Martha Coakley has campaigned against the Bush-Cheney tax cuts.

      There is no new information in this article. There is no justification for your headlines suggestion of a Coakley surge. Sounds like desperation…

    • HfjNUlYZ

      This is just plain silly

    • HfjNUlYZ

      GO SCOTT BROWN!!!!

      This NON-News article is a desperate plea by “Anonymous” who is probably “Coakley”. I suggest apply for a job at your local Starbucks or SEIU.

      I agree this is a very (un)interesting article written with a very interesting slant, I figured it would be more well written given its title, when I googled scott brown poll this was the first article on the page. Seems like someone is digging for positive articles but this was the best they could find.

      It’s fun to see the Dems in such a panic mode. They need to remember that they brought this upon themselves. In their arrogance, they forgot that they work for the people, and that they have an obligation to listen to the people. Republicans are not guilt free either, but they do seem to be catching on. The “take back my county” movement has just begun. Brown supporters, PLEASE vote on Tuesday. It’s our country.

    • HfjNUlYZ

      I am not from Massachusetts, but I sincerely hope that Scott Brown wins. It is time to stop Obamacare, insane taxes and socialistic ideas. It’s sad to see what’s happening to this once great country. Go Scott!

    • HfjNUlYZ

      As a long time Democrat of Massachusetts I am voting for Scott Brown. I cannot stand for Democrats passing this pathetic Health Care Bill and then calling it a day for any real reform. I’d rather have the Reid bill die and wait another couple years for real reform then have this fake no public option bill passed. And many of my friends agree with me.

      I’m from NYC and am so far to the left that I often appear on the right. A libertarian/anarchist.
      I’m getting on a bus tomorrow with a banner saying—
      BROWN – YES!
      OBAMACARE – NO!
      See you in Springfield!

      This senate election is all about freedoms. As this administration attempts to grow goverment it comes at the expense of the fundamental liberties afforded to us under the constitution. In my opinion, all of the poor decisions made by President Obama since he took office have created the largest partisan private sector (the people) ever. The public sector, or more specifically, the politicians are the only ones taking sides. Bailouts, Stimulas, Gitmo, Terror Security, Health Care Reform, transparancy, unemployment, and back room deals for votes have all shown the People they need to unite to fight for our freedoms. Democrats are in Poll Denial mode about this election when confronted, saying polls don’t elect, votes do. However, when asked how can we account for the 30+ point swing toward Brown, they have no answer except to say, Coakley will prevail. The truth will prevail and the people are starting to understand Obama was a horrible mistake. I suppose, after Bush and the many mistakes he made, anyone Democrat would have won the last Presidential Election.

      I LIVE IN LOUISIANA AND I AM A REG DEM. AND YES I VOTED FOR OUR PREIDENT.THIS WAS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE I HAVE EVER MADE. I VOTED FOR CHANGE, BUT NOT THIS. PLEASE VOTE FOR HIM FOR ME, MY CHILDREN AND MY GRAND CHILDREN FUTURE. YOUR VOTE ON TUES. WILL ENSURE THAT AMERICA DOES HAVE A CHANCE

      Socialism is not a really accurate discription of obamacare.
      “Corporatism” may be more accurate word.
      “Corporatism” was the the word Benito Mussolini used when he was asked what Fascism was.

    • HfjNUlYZ

      First there was Diane Wilkerson (the bra stuffer), then Sen. James Marzilli (the perv), then Paul Galluccio (the “toothpaste” addict), Barney Frank (responsible for the Fannie and Freddie Mac sub prime loan debacle which NEEDS INVESTIGATION, BUT CONGRESS CANNOT POLICE THEMSELVES) and finally the fork is pending in Coakley (who we should dress in a berka and send on an educational tour of Afghanistan). We are proud of you MA for not taking it anymore. From your friends in ME.

      I’m from Georgia and other than voting in most elections for the past 30 years have not cared much for politics nationally. Much less a senate race in Massachusets, but I have been so energized by the arrogance of Obama and the Dems. I recently sent a large contribution to Scott Brown. Furthermore I vow to work in every way I can to elect conservatives that will be responsive to their constituents and adhere to a non intrusive, smaller government is better policy.

      It is very interesting that this apparently COAKLEY Leaning Article has Attracted ONLY Brown Supporters so far. Could it be – NO real voters or people on the street – even care about Martha? Another Shot Heard Round the World will be fired on Tuesday January 19, 2010 !!!

      Let’s see. While Obama was stumping for Martha Coakley, who was at the helm of the ship running the country. Ask Cal Coolidge. lol.

      Being President is a lot more than making lots of public appearances and photo ops. It’s a lot more that taking up enormous amounts of time wheeling and dealing over one issue.

      While Obama has fiddled in D.C. over the health care issue, who has been leading the fight against terrorism? Obama’s appointee? I don’t think so.

      Just sign me “christian-oriented” Oh, my, does that mean I’m on a watchlist?

      REPOST.
      From a blog comment on the Boston Herald.com

      JESSCABROWN

      Some Facts About Coakley (in no particular order). She:

      1. Used her power to keep and innocent man in prison (Gerald Amirault)
      2. Did not prosecute a pedophile priest (Geoghan)
      3. Gave a corrupt, bribe-taking politician immunity (Wilkerson)
      4. Allowed a child-rapist to go free because he was a union rep helping her campaign (Winfield)
      5. Thinks there are no more terrorists in Afghanistan
      6. Said “We need to get taxes up” in a debate in November
      7. Was given an A rating by ACORN
      8. Prosecuted a father who punched an illegal immigrant for touching his 4-year-old son in a supermarket bathroom stall
      9. During the primary was against the healthcare bill, because it restricted abortion rights, but is now for the bill (which has not been finalized, so she doesn’t even know what’s in it)
      10. Used $130,000 in state funds to fund her federal political campaign (reported in Boston Magazine)
      11. Claimed that she and her husband had “no assets over $1000” on her financial statement
      12. Misspelled Massachusetts in an ad (she probably didn’t create it, but would have checked it)
      13. Flew to DC for her fundraiser; the host committee for which was composed of federal lobbyists, the leading drug companies, and the leading health insurance companies. Each has raised $10,000 or more for Coakley.
      14. Used an image of the World Trade Center in an attack ad
      15. Used a copyrighted slogan/image in an ad (UPS)
      16. Thinks standing in front of Fenway shaking hands with voters would be a waste of her time
      17. Took “time off” from campaigning after winning the primary
      18. Is not supported by the police unions: Local 911, New England Police Benevolent Association, and Local 504, International Brotherhood of Police Officers, and her husband’s union, The Cambridge Police Patrol Officers have all endorsed Brown.
      19. Paid union workers $50 to hold up Coakley signs
      20. Said Catholic healthcare workers probably should not work in ERs
      21. Ignored a reporter because he had a tough question for her
      22. Claimed not to have seen that same reporter pushed and bullied by her staff (when there’s a photo of her looking right at them)
      23. Said Schilling is a Yankee’s fan

      What have I missed?

      I find these posts absolutely amazing. I am a registered Democrat and an Obama supporter. I want to know where all of the right wing hyperbole about “where this country is going” emanates from. Conservatives talk about the Democrats and especially Obama’s policies, i.e. health care, as if the world is coming to an end. What in the past year has provoked this irrational fear. All I have seen is this administration implement policies that stabilizing the financial system and actually increasing everyone’s portfolios at a dizzying pace. Our economy, and country, is clearly on a better tract than it was before. Yet you conservatives drone with poorly defined and ill-conceived rhetoric claiming the sky is falling. How does electing Scott Brown and train wrecking health reform help this country. I really want a cogent answer from one of you…that is assuming one of you can offer details and not drama.

    • HfjNUlYZ

      I’m from Alabama and I hope that the great state Massachusetts elects Scott Brown for US Senate. See! I can spell MASSACHUSETTS, unlike Martha Cloakley. Oabama is destroying this country with his hencemen like Axlerod, Geithner, Sommers, Emanual, Reid, and Nazi Pelosi. We as Americans can take our country back, he has spent us into 12 trillion dollars of debt, brings the terrorists to NYC to get an easy mistrial, raised taxes, lied repeatedly and ignore the American citizens. Please make Alabamaians proud by electing Scott Brown! Thanks and God Bless.

    • HfjNUlYZ

      I grew up in Massacusetts, pretty much a lone voice amoung the liberals up there, and have voted my whole life as a republican. I hope the people of massachusetts have decided that the continuation of liberalism, without abate, needs to stop. This is a chance in a lifetime for those from Massacusetts to stand up and be counted. I hope Mr. Brown wins, and with it there may be a halt to the “money grows on trees” metality that this president has forced onto this country.
      Go Mr. Brown

    • HfjNUlYZ

      This is in reply to the post asking for facts instead of “hyperbole”.

      Obama has devoted himself to turning his statist visions into legislative reality. First energy, with cap-and-trade, an unprecedented federal intrusion into American industry and commerce. It got through the House, with its Democratic majority and Supreme Soviet-style rules. But it will never get out of the Senate.

      Then, the keystone: a health-care revolution in which the federal government will regulate in crushing detail one-sixth of the U.S. economy. By essentially abolishing medical underwriting (actuarially based risk assessment) and replacing it with government fiat, Obamacare turns the health insurance companies into utilities, their every significant move dictated by government regulators. The public option was a sideshow. As many on the right have long been arguing, and as the more astute on the left (such as The New Yorker’s James Surowiecki) understand, Obamacare is government health care by proxy, single-payer through a facade of nominally “private” insurers.

      Barack Obama has the worst budget record of any president in American history. White House budget office spokesman Tom Gavin claimed “a very strong beginning” for the president’s purported first-year attempts at controlling spending – for example, zeroing out a $17 million program for work incentive grants. But such paltry efforts are round-off numbers compared to the gush of red ink created by President Obama and congressional Democrats. This government is setting the United States on an inevitable path to permanent debtor status.

      The White House entitled Mr. Obama’s first budget “A New Era of Responsibility,” which essayist Roger Kimball observed should have been called “Gone with the Wind.” Mr. Obama’s budget, coupled with the $787 billion stimulus slush fund, was the most irresponsible in history. The effects of his ruinous policies can already be measured. The 2009 budget deficit tripled over 2008. The deficit as a percentage of gross domestic product went from 3.1 percent in 2008 to 9.9 percent in 2009. The deficit for the first month of fiscal year 2010 was $176 billion, which was greater than the $161 billion deficit for the entire 2007 fiscal year.

      The hits keep coming. Public debt as a percentage of GDP was an already-high 40.8 percent in 2008. The Congressional Budget Office – which is run by Democrats – estimates this figure would more than double to 81.7 percent by 2019. That’s a rate not seen since the end of World War II. This figure is likely to be revised upward; between June and August 2009, budget scorers had to raise their estimate for the fiscal 2011 deficit by 33 percent. CBO projects a softening but still brisk increase in future debt based on reduced growth in government spending, which is highly unrealistic, and a trillion dollars in new taxes, which is frighteningly likely.

      Back in February 2009, at the beginning of the fiscal bloodletting, White House Budget Director Peter Orszag preached that “elevated budget deficits are beneficial.” But by November, Mr. Obama warned that, “if we keep on adding to the debt… people could lose confidence in the U.S. economy in a way that could actually lead to a double-dip recession.”

      Enough facts for you???

      First I am a conservative Democrat. The Progressive Socialist Democrats who took over my party are now trying to take over the nation. As Democrats it was our fault we put these Progressives in a possession that they now have that threatens our Republic. I and ALL fellow Democrats must stand up and fight to take our party back from the Progressive Socialist now in control of it. Healthcare is a screen for the control grab of power these people seek. Once it is in place they will appoint themselves to administer it giving them contol of your lives. DON’T BE FOOLED AMERICA. AS DEMOCRATS WHO LOVE OUR CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC WE MUST FIGHT BACK.

      I live in Coakely’s home town of Medford, MA. The only surge I see here is a downward one. They’re usualy called spirals though, not surges.

      Unless the author is talking about dead people. I would belive that she is polling well dead people who have a nasty habit of voting here in MA. Pets are known to vote here too.

      Has anyone been keeping an eye on ACORN in all of this?

      LIBERALISM IS THE OPIATE OF THE MASSES !!!!

    • HfjNUlYZ

      I”m from PA and have never been so involved as I am for this senate seat. I am actually going to make calls tomorrow asking for people to get out and vote for Scott Brown. This vote is so important for the future of this country. Obama is bankrupting this country and I do believe on purpose. He wants to fundamently change Our country! Excuse me but I love our Constitution. We The People have to make our stand in MA and elect Scott Brown! The Progressive Socialist in Congress is trying to ruin our country and we have to stop them by not giving them the 60th vote for this Obama healthcare takeover. God Bless America…I am Proud to be an American…no apologies..look how we step up to the plate when we are needed..Haiti has received more support from the USA then anywhere else…PLEASE no more apologies….We ARE that beacon of light for the rest of the world…IN GOD WE TRUST!

      Obama couldn’t even pass a background investigation to work for the government if he had to. Just look at all the criminals (Creamer) , communists (Van Jones), Mao Tse-Tung loving (Anita Dunne), tax evaders (Giethner, etc.), domestic terrorists (Ayers and wife)and America hating (Rev. Wright, Michelle Obama)creeps he has associated with as his friends his entire adult life. You damned right he is guilty by association.

      It is quite clear that your site is comletely SPAMMED by Repuglicans, who are trying to make America fail. These people don’t know the meaning of Truth, Justice and The American Way. They will fail in their quest to destroy America, because most Americans are not stupid enough to fall for the garbage posted above.

    • HfjNUlYZ

      This is laughable. Martha Coakley didn’t win a “hard fought” primary victory. Her candidacy was handed to her on a golden platter by Democrat machine. May she and her special interest cronies go up in flames on Tuesday.

    • HfjNUlYZ

      This headline is a lie like most of the rhetoric coming out of Martha’s camp. We need Scott Brown in office to at least slow down this runaway liberal spending train. Go Scott Go! Godspeed!

    • HfjNUlYZ

      I am from Hawaii. If you want socialism, fewer freedoms, more and more and more government control of every aspect of our lives, then vote for Coakley. Wake up Mass.; I am not enamored with the GOP, but they are not communist/socialist/marxist Chicago-style politicians who want to break the USA in every manner and reshape it in the canvas of international socialism.

      I am an independent MA voter and I am totally, completely and passionately for Scott Brown – this will be a real “change (quoting Obama)for MA and hopefully for the whole great country of ours!

      I cannot stand how this Democratic political gang thinks they can feed us anything and anybody covering with the words “legacy” and “social justice”, that the American people are so naive and plain stupid that they don’t see their dirty tricks. We are free people and we have our own opinion – Scott Brown for the Senate!

    • HfjNUlYZ

      We are praying from Wyoming for a Brown Victory! This is beyond Democrat vs Republican. It about recapturing the freedoms we all are about to lose.

    • HfjNUlYZ

      I will attempt to provide a cogent answer to you. The truth is, Obama has done nothing in the last year to encourage business to expand and/or hire people. Instead, we are at an unemployment figure between 10-18% (they usually present a lower figure because it is not as discouraging as the higher figure which is really closer to the truth). While it is true he has hired 10,000 people a month for unnecessary government jobs, he has still done nothing of value for the private sector. Expanding government doesn’t get our economy growing and back on it’s feet–but taking your foot off the necks of private corporations does. In fact, destroying what is left of our private sector is the real motivation behind cap & trade. And that entire global warming hoax will also be a major blow to private business. If he could drive every business out of business, that would be his ultimate satisfaction. Spending has been greater over the last 12 months than any other President our country has known. My children, grandchildren, and yours will be paying an incredibly obscene amount in taxes due to the reckless and unnecassry spending of this administration. Oh, and the Healthcare Bill is neither about health or care. One thing is for sure though, we will all get a lot less of healthcare if this bill is passed. Canada, Great Britain, and others have already tried socialized medicine and it does not work. It is a disaster from the word go. That is why people from around the world come here for the best medical care on the planet becasuse it cannot be had anywhere else. They care nothing about the people–liberal, democrat, independent or otherwise. They are not in it for us. They are in it for the themselves, in addition to their other socialist followers. Don’t believe me, just read Sol Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals, Cloward & Piven, and Karl Marx. What they are doing to this country is text book. It is the vision of Obama and his minions that the USA be destroyed and remade into a France, Cuba, Venezualan style tyrannical dictatorship. The very thing our Founding Fathers broke away from, and hoped we could KEEP, is the very thing Obama and his thugs want as to dissolve into. Freedom–forget about it. Life–not the unborn, infirm, or the elderly. Liberty–not if Reid, Pelosi, Frank, Dodd, Obama, Emmanuel, Axelrod, the Czars and the rest have anything to say about it. Their vision for this country is the polar opposite of the Constitutional Republic we were founded on. Now you have a choice. You can either educate yourself and thank God everyday that you were fortunate enough to be born into a country with freedom and unlimited possibilities OR you can continue to ride Obama’s bandwagon until one day you wake up to find they only left you and the others behind.

    • HfjNUlYZ

      How the hell does this even rate as a news story? I find it very telling that you mention her many positions in law enforcement, yet no one in law enforcement endoreses her? Also, where is the SURGE???

      I am asking all Democrats and Independants to vote for Martha Coakley. We elected President Obama on issues such as health care reform, bringing our troops home from Iraq, and investing money for the middle class and the poor.

      President Obama is working hard for health care reform. Our troops are on pace to be out of Iraq in August of this year. President Obama put a tarriff on tires from China so we can have fair trade, not just free trade.

      President Obama is working hard for change in our country. The Republicans want no change. The Republicans are the party of “no.” VOTE FOR MARTHA COAKLEY IN MASSACHUSETTS!

    • HfjNUlYZ

      I pray that the good people of Massachusetts vote for the right and best choice- Martha cloakley. She will help our president help the people of Massachusetts and our nation. She has no other agenda other than to work hard for the people and unlike the slick packaged Brown who sold his body for money when he could have worked hard at a real job-she will do an honest and dedicated job for the people of Massachusetts. Our president has had a tough job fixing the mess that was left for him by the previous administration. These Republicans that created the mess we are in today DO NOT DESERVE TO BE REWARDED with another vote in the Senate. As an unemployed person, I know the President is doing what he can to fix our economy and bring our jobs back. I trust him and Martha Coakley to do this. Mr. Brown I trust to do nothing but obstruct and try to ruin all that President Obama has begun.
      A vote for Martha Coakley is a vote for the people of Massachusetts and our country. A vote for Martha Coakley is a vote for something better.
      Send Brown packing with his phony truck-tell him you see through his lies and empty promises.
      God Bless Martha Coakley and may you win big on Tuesday.

      In Obama’s speech yesterday at the Coakley rally he said if a Republican wins this election that his whole agenda may be out the window. This is the greatest news I have heard in a very long time and why I pray the people of Massachusetts vote Brown. I also heard Obama say that tiered old line “the past administration” and I am sick of it. The Obama administration has been worse than Bushes ever was. The Democrats in Washington have run amuck with late night deals behind closed doors. Brown is the first great hope before the November elections to bring accountability to Washington and make the Democratic dictators come out from behind those closed doors and face the people. PLEASE…people of Massachusetts, be the first to say enough is enough. Believe me…the rest of the country will be right behind you come November. It is you that may stop a lot of damage before then.

    • HfjNUlYZ

      I am in NJ and we recently voted out a free spending, tax increasing liberal democrat in Jon Corzine. Obama came here too to stump for the democrat. I hope and I pray that the good people of MA can join VA and NJ in sending a message to Washington that “It’s the economy stupid!”. Stop the leftist agenda that is bankrupting America.

    • HfjNUlYZ

      The American people have finally figured out who the “Red Coat”, Marxist, socialists really are! …We the people now realize that *they* are amongst us, and that the Democratic party is spilling over with those who the founders would consider Red Coat enemies of our great republic. 2010 will go down as a national referendum on and against the Marxists, socialists, communists political party that is infested with them!!!

    • HfjNUlYZ

      Surge? This is simply a puff campaign piece and has nothing to do with “news”. I pray this election will wake up America and show us that the light at the end of the tunnel is not a freight train and this administration can be stopped before it is too late for our children.

    • HfjNUlYZ

      Martha Coakly’s many Law Enforcement Wins and her political positions have garnered her nothing. The Police Officers Union (her husband is a member) is supporting Scott Brown. I saw the surge in this article, in the responses in support of brown
      Here are the facts as of 10:20 AM Monday 18 January 2010

      Coakly = 4
      Brown = 17
      People just saying WHAT was this article about? = 4
      General rants (good reads but rants) = 13

      Granted this doesn’t reflect MA Voters. But as I drive through my parts of MA I have been doing a very scientific poll front lawn signs. I allow one sign per house (no matter how big or how many) On Sunday I saw;

      Brown = 18
      Caokly = 5
      Kennedy = 1

      I must say though those with Coakly signs had a small forest going.

      I am a MA resident and I am voting for Brown

      Martha Coakly’s many Law Enforcement Wins and her political positions have garnered her nothing. The Police Officers Union (her husband is a member) is supporting Scott Brown. I saw the surge in this article, in the responses in support of brown
      Here are the facts as of 10:20 AM Monday 18 January 2010
      Coakly = 4
      Brown = 17

      The Obama speech and his ridicule of Scott Brown will only backfire. He is supposed to be President of all the people, praising Coakly, and not insulting our intelligence by denouncing growing public opposition to his proposals.

      Coakley/Democratic Campaign Song: “…Looking like a fool with the pants on the ground.”

    • HfjNUlYZ

      Senator Kirk’s term expires tommorrow night when either Coakley or Scott are elected because the law states the term expires when a new Senator is elected and qualified, Qualified does not mean Certified. Both Candidates are already “Qualified” because they are both at least 30 years old, both are citizens and both are residents of the state in which they are running. Even if the election were to be contested a Senator will indeed be elected on Jan 19th 2010 and Senator Kirk finished. If Brown is elected the Imperious Barack Hussain Obama will truly “Dred Scott”!!!!

      Martha Coakley has opposed tax cuts for Millionaires, supported tax breaks for everyone else, won back tens of millions from the creators of the financial meltdown, and knows, from her experience examining the workings of huge health care institutions, that reform will bring down taxes and reduce the deficit – Scott Brown has a pick up and appears to have waxed his chest for a nude photo shoot – big deal – Coakley has taken on Wall Street, Street crime, and knows how to get things done – The deficit run up by the BUSH ADMINISTRATION’S WAR ON IRAQ AND MEDICARE D CREATED A DEFICIT OF ENORMOUS PROPORTIONS, FAILURE TO REGULATE WALL STREET, THE GOP LOSS OF ALL AMERICAN JOBS DURING THE LAST DECADE PLAQUE US NOW – WHY VOTE FOR ANOTHER ONE?

      WHY ARE THESE POSTERS AFRAID OF GOVERNMENT BY ELECTED OFFICIALS, BUT PERFECTLY HAPPY WITH GOVERNMENT RUN BY LOBBYISTS FOR THE FINANCIAL INDUSTRIES, THE INSURANCE COMPANIES, BILLIONAIRES WITH OFF-SHORE TAX SHELTERS? Scott Brown appears to represent all of the above – Martha prosecuted Wall Street and won, waited in her prosecution of the above mentioned child molester for enough evidence to win, and won, represents a chance to give government back to the people – all the people – not just those with millions to buy politicians – the free market is now only free for those with money to buy laws to protect their sheltered assets – Martha will change that

      Time to stop OBAMACARE!!! Whoever wants this universal healthcare diaster…. please go see Europe or Mexico (in person) and ask them why them come to the United States to have life saving procedures done here- There is a reason. Universal Healthcare has not been successful ANYWHERE, why ruin our country also by offering more entitlements…. Have you ever been to a VA Medical Center? Just think how we treat our own veterans (which is very sad they are treated this way)…it basically allows more individuals to abuse the system and let working people pay their ticket through life. Smaller government is ALWAYS better, who wants to be a social drone….I know small business owners don’t want to be!- GO BROWN!!!!

      People are saying that the possible upset tomorrow is due to a mandate of Obama – I think it due to people getting their first real look at Martha.

      Scott Brown winning the Senate seat from Massachusetts will be the equivalent to ringing the Liberty Bell! This is a shot over the bow to the leftists in Washington that are taking our liberties and working to enslave us to the government. Just like the mid 1770′s the revolution from tyranny starts in Massachusetts!

      My sister is severely disabled and drawing social security disability because she did not have health insurance when her FACE WENT NUMB even though she worked full time her entire life.

      Now her life is awful, and she does cannot work or pay taxes – this hurts the ecomony.

      If you know someone who does not have health insurance, this fate is just a burst aneurysm or accident away.

      Health insurance for everyone isn’t socialism, it’s just good ecomonics. Do the math.

      ok, so you want to crush healthcare reform why? so the greedy insurance companies can do things like deny people healthcare for pre existing conditions? there needs to be healthcare regulation. when most of the republicans are paid off by the insurance companies (if you don’t think so look up who’s donating to them) to vote no on reform than that spells trouble – profit over our lives. everyone can see that we need it. if you’re sick than you need care – not some company telling you that ya can’t have it because you’ll cost them money – that’s what they’re there for, yeah they may lose some money here and there due to people with pre conditions but they will still be making huge profits because the odds work in their favor when you count in everything else! here’s some “socialism” for ya – it’s like school loans. when they were only run by private companies they had high interest rates, companies cherry picked the good ones, and abused their power. then the government got involved and started to regulate them and issue their own – oohhh, scary word – “regulate”, yeah we need regulation, without it things like, oh i don’t know – slavery might not have ended – ok, that’s a bit extreme but maybe things like minimum wages, over-time, mandatory fire exits, and say not letting banks give insanely ridiculous loans… anyways, after the govt. started regulating student loans the insurance rates came down, everyone was entitled to them, and many more students got to go to college because of this – and without having huge debt due to interest after graduating. the right wing is so full of idealistic notions that really don’t make sense to me. like the comment “money grows on trees”… ok, did your dad tell you that’s what liberals think? we need to spend money on things if we want a nice country!!! the rich are paying for most of it and we want to pay a low but fair tax – not an insane amount though, america still has the lowest income tax of all developed countries by far. so if you want nice roads, good schools, business loans, an art program (even though everyone on this site is complaining about our “socialist government” that spends about 130 million per year on art. while france spends 2 billion per year and when you look at the population difference it’s a lot per capita! we spend a lot on our military (about 550 billion which is more than the almost all of the rest of the world combined). if we took some of that money – even a small fraction – and put it to things like education and healthcare we will continue to kick some butt as the number one country on planet earth. i think we should remain the most powerful country in the world but denying the poorest of our citizens basic (and i mean very basic) things like healthcare, education, shelter, and some food not only takes down crime a lot but helps people in the lower class get out of their situation rather than just succumbing to a lousy education or a life of crime. go democrats! all i really see when i read these conservative posts are misinformation stemming from a culture of backwards thinking… although i have a lot of friends from red states i am constantly annoyed by red state thinking.

      Have people forgotten that the ECONOMY MELTED DOWN UNDER REPUBLICAN WATCH?

    • HfjNUlYZ

      Unemployment occurs when a person is available and willing to work but currently without work. The prevalence of unemployment is usually measured using the unemployment rate, which is defined as the percentage of those in the labor force who are unemployed. The unemployment rate is also used in economic studies and economic indices such as the United States’ Conference Board’s Index of Leading Indicators as a measure of the state of macroeconomics. Mainstream economics believes in the main that unemployment is inevitable, and a necessary evil to prevent inflation, this is disputed by some schools of heterodox economics. The causes of unemployment are disputed. Keynesian economics emphasizes unemployment resulting from insufficient effective demand for goods and services in the economy.
