Many people live in homes with more space than they actually need.A lot of people live in houses that are 4,000 to 6,000 square feet in size.

Jay Shafer refers to these large homes as debtors’ prisons and some people spend up to 30 years or more paying off their homes. The people that live in these small houses must be saving a small fortune on their utility bills .Check out the video below.

Buisness Insider:

There’s been a recent renaissance in small living spaces.

New York City and San Francisco are moving forward with plans to build experimental “micro apartments,” and a small tiny-house community has popped up on the outskirts of Washington D.C.

The idea of a “tiny home” is nothing new Jay Shafer, founder the Tumblewood Tiny House Company, has been the face of the movement and a major advocate of the concept for more than a decade.

Jay says he has had as many as 9 people over at one time in his tiny home.

Homes are shrinking in America. After doubling in size since 1960, the national average dropped for the first time in nearly 15 years (by 9%, the size of an average room).

But far from this new average of 2,000 plus square feet are the so-called tiny houses. Also called wee homes, mini dwellings, or microhomes, their definition is not exact, but they run as small as 65 square feet.

And yes, people really live in them. Why? Those at the Small House Society- calling themselves a voice for the Small House Movement- explain the reasons range from environmental to economic

Don’t worry, if this becomes a trend, the fed will soon pass a law, banning people from living in homes below 1000 sq feet or whatever suits their fancy.

They won’t stop at nothing to piss you more. This is not a solution, they just need an excuse to destroy your small house by passing a law that living in small houses cause cancer to your neighbors etc..any stupid argument will do…

What Americans need is to grow small piece of balls to fight these thugs not run away from it. Americans are one pussy people like the rest of the world..

I think the bigger amazement here, is that he has a wife…. That is just fabulous!

So it sort of got throw in there at the end that now that he’s married, and there will be three of them, they needed a 1500 sq foot house next to his man cave. Frankly, there’s the rub – you can’t really expect to live and thrive as a family in a small house, but having several small houses (or outbuildings) probably makes a lot of sense rather than a monster house. Easier to heat and configure, although the cost per square foot is a bit higher for building small. Upper Middle class only – best for those with disposable income.

I believe he said that they now live in a 500 Sq. Ft. When my wife and I were looking for our first home to own we purchased a 589 Sq. Ft. home on stilts over the side of a mountain in the Santa Cruz mountains of California 33 years ago. It was great until 4 kids later it became rather cramped and besides, they weren’t too happy when friends came over and every one was ordered outside to socialize and play (sucked for them in the winter and fall), needless to say, we’ve outgrown our original house and now that the kids are grown up (and several upgrades later) we now live in a 3 bed 2 bath which accommodates the whole family when they visit along with their spouses, 5 grandchildren, pets, and assorted life-long friends of theirs, my out-of-town siblings (4) and their families when they visit for the holidays.

Again, it has become a bit cramped but hey, family is family, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Merry Christmas to All…

I agree ,these types of homes are shown all over main stream tv,and home and garden shows, and it is basiclly being done to “make you aware that its ok”,or “you won’t fit in if you dont have one”, or “your not interested in saving the earth and stopping global warming”. pffssshhh
All of this is done to brainwash the sheeple

Makes more sense than these huge status symbol houses most idiot americans have been brainwashed by the media into buying.

I could live in there. I wish I could afford a 1/2 acre to acre of land in the mountains surrounding where I rent a room now. I would love to have a house like that, maybe just a little bigger. I would sink some steel beams in the ground and put some hurricane straps on the wooden beams to prevent it blowing a away in a storm. I would advertise for this guy for free by spreading the word and letting him put a big sign on the property if he could provide the house and land.

This is how Obama wants us to live. He wants complete control over our lives: what we eat, where we live, what we drive, where we go, how we heat our homes (we won’t be able to afford electricity, so the poor will just freeze). He has ruined America, and most Americans have let him do it because they want free stuff. Thanks to the “stupids”, we’ve lost our blessed America, and I believe that there is no turning it around. It’s too late. We lost our chance in the last election. Nov 6 was devastating for America.

      nice size for an outhouse.

Lets begin with by driving smaller Cars, since you don’t need to lug your livingroom with you to go shopping. Your home is your Castle and yes depending on the size of your Family it sometimes has to exceed 1000 Sq.feet.But as you all guess this is not in line with our Gov. Policies who want to enslave us,by keeping us in debt.
They are building a VW Diesel’s in the U.S.A. that get 80 plus miles a Gallon and it is sold in most places in the World, with the exception of the U.S.A. and Canada.
I got suckered in driving a SMART thinking Green and $$$ savings.Had I bought the Diesel such would be the Case, but since they were so efficient ,they were only allowed (I am sure it was a Mistake) into Canada in 2005/6.,and none into the U.S.A. After much lobbying from our good friends in the U.S.A. ,Canada discontinued importing them into the country to please the Yanks.
So I had to buy a SMART Gas version with a 3 Cyl. Mitsubishi.
What a pile of crap…….Fuel economy is about 33MPG Canadian average,I can prove that.
I can get better than that from any Midsize Car. Again we were deceived to think that small is better.

So transparent. ‘They’re’ not going to succeed at Agenda 21 unless they socially-engineer all the sheeple to cram themselves into these coffins….SUCKERS
