Dog Tired
Wow, I’m wiped out. Sat down for a few minutes because it started to rain and rained just enough to make the hay wad up and not roll in the baler, fell asleep! That doesn’t happen very often! I think I’m still suffering the effect of Friday nights events. I’m anxious about my future here and the desire to keep my farm is stronger than ever. I have accepted the fact that there will be no repairs or changes here until I find a full time job. I won’t be passing up any kind of work tho because first and foremost, the mortgage has to be paid to keep the farm. The utilities can be turned off, won’t bother me since it’s not like that hasn’t happened a half dozen times over the years. I’m focusing on just one thing at a time to keep it all together. Yesterday, I tried to do everything at once and left my cell phone on the truck bed rail and lost it on the highway somewhere. How somebody found it to turn it in to the police dept in the small town next to me is just plain crazy but they did. My sister messaged me on fb tis morning about it. Tried to get it but there’s no one at the pd on sundays in that small town
So, there was a huge storm heading across the Mississippi last night which meant the mad dash to get the hay baled was on. The storm pushed a dry line on us, no dew fell so I baled until I wadded some up around midnite and broke a sheer pin. Fixed that and got 2 more bales on the ground when the bearing melted and I had to play fireman. Saved the half roll of hay in the baler! Fixed the bearing early this afternoon (had to find parts) and finished up that field and headed for the other one I have laying on the ground. Set the boy to raking and got one bale out before a big rumble of thunder and just enough of a sprinkle to ruin baling. The rain made the hay real sticky and that ends that.
Back to the farm to check on the animals, fill a couple water tanks and such. Sissy goat, Brandy and Grizz supervised all of it (got under my feet and slowed me down).
Grizz hates his picture taken, don’t know why Then I spent a couple hours cleaning up the destruction in the house. That’s when I sat down for a break and fell asleep. Short power nap and now it’s time to go milk the goat and the cow!
RW, Thank you for your help and support and Yukon, thank you too for your offer! I am really okay, he’s not getting out for a couple years (domestic battery is the least of his worries, surprise! dang OCD habitual liars…)
