DIY – Shower Bombs to Ease Congestion

Whether due to allergies or a bad head cold, we have all suffered from congestion from one time or another. It feels awful doesn’t it? Your head feels like it weighs 100 pounds and your ears feel like they are stuffed with cotton. Apparently your nose has decided that it is tired of being used as a means to oxygenating your body and has decided that it wants to try out a career in producing a lot of mucus. Hey, all you want is to be able to breathe and not sound like you are using the dark side of The Force to routinely crush your enemies. Don’t fear, for today I am going to share with you some ways you can ease congestion and show you how to make a shower bomb that will help you breathe easy.

When  your sinuses are congested, they are either inflamed or filled with mucus, or possibly both. WebMD suggests to get plenty of rest to give your body a chance to fight the infection. Drink plenty of fluids so you can stay hydrated. A hot bowl of soup will not only help you replenish fluids, the steam will also help to break up phlegm and ease congestion.

Speaking of steam, really helps when you are feeling congested and one way to get plenty of it is to take a shower. If you put a shower bomb in your shower, the stuffy feeling will go away much quicker. A shower bomb is essentially a tablet that is made from baking soda and eucalyptus oil or Vicks VapoRub. It dissolves in the hot water and the aromatics clear away congestion.

All you need is:

Baking Soda

Eucalyptus Essential Oil or Vicks VapoRub

Water

Combine the ingredients and put them in a cupcake pan (use cupcake liners). Pack it in firmly and let it sit out for 12-18 hours. To make them more firm, bake them in the oven at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. When they come out of the oven, add a few drops more of the essential oil.

When you are ready to use them, just place one on the floor off your shower and turn on the water. Relief is on its way! (If you still want to crush your enemies using the dark side of The Force, that’s up to you, you just don’t have to breathe like your head is in a large black helmet.)
