The Joy of Growing Plums Trees

In the Spring of 2016 Brian brought home an assortment of fruit trees for our backyard homestead. They included a peach tree, two plum trees, two loquat trees, and a fig tree. I was so excited to see what my husband would do with these as we’ve never had fruit trees before! Brian planted one plum tree in the front yard and another in the backyard. A year after planting they flowered but a late spring frost killed the buds. We were super disappointed. That summer Brian installed a trash can that sits semi underground outside our back patio where our washing machine is located to catch our gray water. Inside the trash can is a sump pump that pumps gray water out to the backyard plum tree. Without a doubt this gray water from our washing machine helped this tree grow tremendously. Fast forward two years: the peach tree stopped growing and appears stunted, one loquat tree died and the other loquat is big and bushy but has not flowered yet at all, and the fig tree is kinda just sitting there doing nothing.
