Not Using Correct Tools

When you want to do a plumbing job but you do not have the right tools, you end up faced with serious complications. The plumbing problem can only become worse.

For instance, when you utilize the flat head screwdriver but you would actually need a Phillips screwdriver, the head of your screw ends up being damaged. In time, it becomes very difficult to open the screw again.

Overtightening

Last but not least, whenever referring to fittings and pipes, tighter is not at all better. As you overtighten the galvanized pipe, coupling, or elbow, you can end up cracking the fitting. Also, when you overtighten the toilet closet bolt, the porcelain can be cracked and the entire toilet would be damaged.

The huge problem is that oftentimes people do not notice the cracks right after tightening. It can actually take months until the fitting breaks. By that time, the leak can be very serious and major flooding would appear.

While it is difficult to determine how tight you have to aim for, after the connection is secure and you notice no movement, stop there.
