We The People Holsters Reviews Their 4 Favorite Guns for Beginners

The interest in owning firearms, as a means of personal protection, is constantly growing. As a result, many people are left wondering which handgun they should purchase as their first. With so many options on the market, the process of selecting your first handgun can leave you feeling like you’ve got more questions than answers. Every year, the team at We The People Holsters review dozens of handguns, some of which are especially great for beginners. Here is a look at four of the best handguns on the market for first-time gun owners.

Springfield XDM 9mm

If you’ve never owned a handgun before, one of the most important aspects you should consider is a firearm that safely fits in your hand. One of the biggest benefits of choosing the Springfield XDM 9mm is that Springfield offers interchangeable backstraps which can be tailored to fit the size of your hand. Being comfortable with your gun allows you to use it as safely as possible.

Other safety features included in the Springfield XDM 9mm include a striker status indicator along with another indicator which lets you know when you have a round in the chamber. These triple safety measures that Springfield incorporated on the XDM 9mm make it an ideal choice for a first-time handgun owner.

Ruger LCR

Many people don’t think about revolvers when they’re looking for their first handgun, but the Ruger LCR should change that. This snub-nosed, lightweight option is great for first-time handgun owners who don’t want to deal with a large, heavy weapon. Being able to safely load your weapon is one of the most important things that a new gun owner needs to learn about. Since the Ruger LCR only holds five rounds, loading the weapon is a quick and easy process. The LCR doesn’t boast the same long-range as some of the other options on this list, but that makes it a great choice for someone who is just learning the intricacies of firing a handgun.

Smith and Wesson M&P 9

One of the biggest draws to the Smith and Wesson M&P 9 is that it can be used by either left-handed or right-handed shooters. This is an even better option if you are new to guns and want to work with someone who is going to show you how to safely and effectively use your firearm. If you and your teacher do not share a dominant hand, the M&P 9 is a great choice. Beginners also like the M&P 9 because it is so lightweight. Instead of having to use a front-heavy firearm, the M&P 9 allows users to feel like they are in more control of the weapon. Finally, since this option is designed with military members and law enforcement officers in mind, those who are new to handguns can trust in its reliability.

Glock 43

Glock is one of the most recognizable names in the world of handguns, thanks to their consistent ability to produce high-quality, durable handguns which appeal to users of all experience levels. The Glock 43 is an excellent option for first-time shooters for a variety of reasons, including the ambidextrous abilities, like we discussed with the M&P 9. The Glock 43 comes standard with a beavertail textured grip and a reversible release button which work together to keep you in total control of the weapon. Glock 43’s hold six rounds at a time, which is a great thing for first-time gun owners who need to get the hang of safely loading their firearms. Finally, the Glock 43 is great for new gun owners because of how easily it can be taken apart and cleaned. Knowing how to safely disassemble your weapon and properly clean it is an important safety measure that can help prevent jams.

Price Range

All of the firearms discussed in this article can typically be bought for $500 to $599, making them some of the most affordable, yet reliable options on the market. If you are just getting into the world of firearm ownership, you may not want to spend a huge amount of money, which makes the guns we have listed here even better options.

Final Thoughts

The team at We The People Holsters believes that exercising your right to own firearms is one of the biggest reasons America is the greatest nation on Earth. However, owning a firearm is only a good idea if you are educated on how to safely use it. Not only does We The People Holsters review dozens of firearms each year, but they also offer a wide variety of holsters and accessories which you can use with your new firearm. Be sure to follow the We The People Holsters blog for more information about how to responsibly and safely defend yourself, your family, and your Second Amendment rights.

I like the looks of the Springfield the best. Looks like the kind of gun a Space Marine would carry. Don’t like the looks of the S&W or Glock.
