Tips to Take Your Self-Confidence to the Next Level

Self-confidence is one of the most important skills we can learn and develop in our lifetime. Confident people are more successful, and often lead more fulfilled lives than those with low self-esteem. However, it’s easier said than done – who wouldn’t choose to be confident if given the choice?

What are some easy steps you can take in your daily life to improve your self-confidence?

Push Your Boundaries

It’s uncomfortable, no one likes it, and we’d much rather stay within the safe walls of our comfort zone. However, getting out there and pushing the boundaries of your own comfort can make you a much more confident person. Whether this is interviewing for that dream job you think you’re underqualified for or asking someone out on a date – anything that might make you uncomfortable in the slightest will be a good opportunity to grow your self-confidence.

Boundary-pushing feels terrible at first, but then there should be more things you’ll be able to do in the future. For instance, if interviewing for that job is a challenge but you force yourself to do it, the outcome of the interview isn’t so important. If you get your dream job, that’s amazing. If you don’t, it will be much easier to apply next time you see a similar job advertised. Pushing your boundaries should be an ongoing effort.

Change Your Style

One of the main reasons why you might lack confidence is because of the way you think people perceive you. Chances are that people don’t think twice about the clothes you’re wearing or the accessories you’re complementing them with. However, if you dress to impress, you may start believing in yourself rather than worrying about what people think of you. This will surely enhance your own self-confidence.

You can go to a professional stylist to help you find your flair, or simply go to a shop and start looking for clothing that will make you feel confident. If you’re still unsure about whether you want to change the way you dress, you might want to go for something more subtle such as finding a sexy lingerie set in which you’ll feel confident and perhaps powerful. No one else will see the new undergarments but you, but it may still be a good boost to your self-esteem.

Improve Your Posture

It might sound too simplistic at first, but posture has a lot to do with how you perceive yourself and others can sense this too.

Stand tall and avoid rounding your shoulders. It will be difficult at first and you will more than likely forget and often go back to slouching in your chair like you’re so used to doing. However, if you keep reminding yourself to keep a good posture it will eventually become second nature. On the street, at work, when meeting someone new or hanging out with friends – any time is a good opportunity to straighten up and stand tall. You will feel better, more confident and people around you will perceive it just as much.

Remind Yourself of Your Achievements

You’ve probably accomplished more things than you give yourself credit for. An amazing internship when you were a student, a promotion just a few months after joining a company, or even that friendship that you’ve managed to maintain for over a decade – all those are just examples of achievements anyone should be proud of, including you. You can write down a list of all the things that you’re proud of – make it as short or as long as you’d like, but make sure you keep it close for those moments in which you need to remind yourself who you are.
