Global Development Director: ‘It’s beautiful!’

CHICAGO—“It’s beautiful. It’s absolutely stunning!” said Ms. Patrice Drago, the director of Global Training and Development at Marriott International. She had joined the enthusiastic audience for Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company’s performance at the Civic Opera House Saturday evening.

“The dancers are amazingly proficient. The colors are fantastic. It’s beautiful. I love it!” Ms. Drago said. New York-based Shen Yun is world-renowned for classical Chinese dance. As one of the most expressive art forms in the world, classical Chinese dance allows the artists to tell stories ranging from ancient to modern times.

“I have not seen anything like this before. It was lovely,” Ms. Drago said.

She was impressed by the magnificent, original handmade costumes, and said of them, “Beautiful! They are lovely.”

Referring to the performances she said, “The Sleeves of Silk, the Lotus Leaves, and this last one, with the men, was lovely. This one was very spiritual.”

Ms. Drago said she felt the spirituality through the performance. “The way they moved—it just felt very soft. It was very soft and spiritual.”

She praised the depth of the performances and said she would recommend Shen Yun to others: “They must see it. It’s also a lovely way of telling a story. All I can say is that it’s a lovely way … to learn about the culture and the story behind the dance.”
