Opinions come in all shapes and guises, I would rather believe a Civilization from thousands of years ago, than any Government agency that has a track record of telling lies and misinformation to make people look mentally ill.
What would a Civilization from thousands of years ago have to gain from not saying what they witness? compared to those who would have us believe all kinds of nonsense, every time any evidence is put forward from ancient Sumerian texts its always the same, “ITS A MISTRANSLATION” yet now the old farts of science who have kept control of these discoveries to protect their own reputations built on opinions and from a time when they had no access to the technology we have today, the younger scientists now no longer feel as threatened over their careers as they used to, are coming forward and telling what they know, these are the scientists who will prove most of the old farts were wrong, and they knew they were wrong.
There is so much evidence that something is lurking out there, and it does seem to be getting closer, many astronomers have said that our solar system was unusual because it was not a binary system, which is more common in the Galaxy than people care to believe, in fact its been said that it was improbable that our sun was alone, the Planets not acting as they should pointing towards external influences, yet because it could not be seen, many took that to mean it did not exist, you breath air but yet you cant see it, does that mean air is just a myth?
A rogue Planet roaming into our Solar System is far more possible than you could ever imagine, more possible than not IMO, we live for such a short time, yet we are certain we know what was happening 3600 years ago, in fact it wasn’t long ago cities like Troy were thought to be just a myth, yet it was found and proven to be exactly as it was written about all that time ago.
it all comes down to opinion until the proof is undeniable, which is very close to happening, you read a book, that book is just an opinion, not fact, someone like me writes what I have come to know after much research, but again its just an opinion, Einstein was a genius, yet he could not dress himself, and was terrible at mathematics, people always seem to quote Einstein, yet when they talk about his work, its always referred to as a theory, meaning its just an opinion, it was his opinion, others looked at it and because they could not come up with a better explanation, they adopted it and their whole lives have been spent trying to prove his work, instead of working on a theory of their own.

Two problems with your position:
First, your use of the word “witness” that causes the problem. While some of the documented knowledge of ancient civilizations is very worthwhile — and indeed, is foundational to our current scientific method — you will have a very difficult time parsing the pure, accurate information from that tainted by superstitions.
Second, if you think our current forms of government invented social manipulation, and that simply by virtue of being old and obsolete, past governments are somehow innocent and virginal, you are — quite frankly — either disingenuous or ignorant.
By your logic, the sun is a chariot and thunder is caused by Thor throwing a hissy fit.

Lens flares are common when morons here on our planet point cheap, uncoated optics at the sun. The images above are taken from sensing devices either outside our atmosphere (with optics far from “cheap”), or are land-based and similarly not consumer-grade tech, so you will not see the lens flares and other imaging artefacts often mistaken by the gullible, delusional members of our society as evidence of the nonexistent Nibiru.
If Nibiru is real, and the ‘planet of the passing” actually skirts passed us, then governments every where will lose their ability to convince the populous of anything.

NJ for example is huge; the implication is that everything else will be pro rata.
