June 29 Delta IV-Heavy Rocket Launch Viewing Available at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. (June 27, 2012) – Launch viewing of a Delta IV-Heavy NROL–15 rocket will be available from Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex on Friday, June 29, 2012. The launch window is scheduled between 6:13 a.m. EDT from Launch Complex 37 B at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The Delta IV-Heavy rocket, built by the United Launch Alliance, will be carrying secret satellite cargo for the U.S. National Reconnaissance Office.

 

Delta IV and the Atlas V rockets were created for the Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle program. The EELV program was developed by the United States Air Force to assure secure access to space for the Department of Defense and other government payloads. Delta IV rockets are available in five variants from Medium to Heavy, which are tailored to suit specific payload size and weight ranges. The Delta IV-Heavy carries the most critical security payloads for the National Reconnaissance office and the U.S. Air Force.

 

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex will open one hour before the scheduled launch time. Launch viewing is included with admission.
