NASA Alert Killer Asteroid 2012 da14 Possible Impact on Earth, the Deadly Asteroid is definitely headed towards Earth. 2012 da14 asteroid will come so close to Earth, If it were to strike the Earth, it is estimated that it would produce the equivalent of 2.4 megatons of TNT. NASA scientists have yet to determine with 100% certainty it won’t collide with Earth. 2012 DA14 is a near earth asteroid with an estimated diameter of about 45 meters and an estimated mass of about 130,000 metric tons. It was discovered on February 23, 2012, by the OAM Observatory in Spain. Calculations show that on February 15, 2013, the distance between the asteroid and the Earth will be 0.09 LD, this is potentially closer than GPS satellites in geosynchronous orbit, and also closer than Elenin comet. 45 meters would blow up in the upper atmosphere would never hit ground

      • jeremym31

Its about the same size as the one that came at the earth in the early 1900′s which blew up in the lower atmosphere over Siberia. Would it hit earth? That depends on how dense it is, the one that came at us in the early 20th century was soft and broke up but it was still like a nuclear bomb going off nearly twice the size of the ones we dropped on Japan. So wether one this size hits or not, I wouldnt want to be there.

        P.S.
They arent sure, but since this close call changes the orbit of this asteroid, experts aren’t sure it wont come around and impact next year in 317 days. Because their calculations say it will come close again.

The worlds governments would not announce it. It would cause mass panic. It would just happen.

Don’t worry about that little rock. This is the main event and the government has put out the warning. Too bad hardly anyone is listening and no one seems to be in a panic. Too bad because nothing is getting fixed.

      Have you not read this?

      It is official.

JPL is has a good track record but not perfect.
      Here is why.
2008 TC3 a rock that was not to hit us. About 0 tons, not a big rock.
Was to pass by at 7.80302E-6 AU thats close, JPL said it would miss us.
Well they were wrong and this time it is really close. I hope they are right this time.
      Last time:
October 7, 2008, at 02:46 UTC (05:46 local time).[2] The meteoroid was notable as the first such body to be observed and tracked prior to reaching Earth.[3] It exploded an estimated 37 kilometers (23 mi) above the Nubian Desert in Sudan.

Orbital dynamics is not an exact art.

Just to correct line below. the rock was 50 tons, not o tons.

2008 TC3 a rock that was not to hit us. About 50 tons, not a big rock.

    • Pwhyte4

My data was wrong. With more looking on the internet Nasa and JPL new the rock would hit.
      Pwhyte4
Still the rock in Feb will be very close.

    • jeremym31

The news has already reported on this. It will come 17200 miles above earths surface, about halfwaybetween earth and our satellites.
