Neil Armstrong Didn’t Lie About First Words on the Moon, Historian Says
A small controversy has erupted over Neil Armstrong’s first words as stepped on the Moon’s surface and how he came to say them.
Armstrong has always maintained that while he had been thinking about what to say during his first steps for quite some time before the Apollo 11 mission, he didn’t actually decide on his words until just after landing on the Moon, while waiting to exit the lunar module. In a new BBC documentary, the astronaut’s brother Dean Armstrong says the two discussed the statement months earlier, and that Neil gave Dean a handwritten note showing him the famous quote, “That’s one small step for (a) man, one giant leap for mankind.”
But apparently some people (and writers) have gotten a bit confused, thinking that Armstrong said he thought up the words on the spot, and recent headlines have screamed that “Armstrong Lied” about the quote.
Not so, says says space historian and author Andrew Chaikin, who wrote the book, “A Man on the Moon,” and interviewed Armstrong several times.

You need to see the definitive documentary on the Moon landings. It is “Kubrick’s Odyssey” by Jay Wiedner. Can be obtained as a torrent.
Many of the Moon videos were fake and it is obvious, once you know what to look for. The Moon’s gravity is 1/6 that of Earth. Our muscle development, would make us move like the Incredible Hulk, on the Moon. Three and four foot jumps would be a piece of cake, yet you never see the astronauts doing this, not even once. It is impossible to fake Moon gravity, while filming on Earth.
The temperature of the Moon, where the Apollo sites are, averaged about -180 Celsius. The suits they had on could not have maintained enough warmth to keep the astronauts alive. They would have needed shopping cart size power supplies, to provide the heat necessary to stay alive.
You can’t fight the idiots who think the moon landings were faked. Facts don’t bother them. They’re immune to them. They’d rather believe that thousands of people were involved in a conspiracy that happened when Nixon was president and it never came up during Watergate.
Who are you calling an idiot and what if anything do you know about facts: present me these facts, i haven’t had a good laugh today.
Go get me a copy of the film clip showing the return capsule lifting off from the lunar surface. The one made from the camera that relies on actual physical film. The same film that would still be on the moon and not in our living rooms. Seen the Onion?
Speaking of actual physical film, as opposed to video footage, perhaps you would care to attempt the explanation about how said film, fragile as it is, could possibly record anything other than white noise given the lack of atmospheric radiation filtering present in outer space.
Go on moron make me laugh.
FILM STUIDO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah man, they faked the first one then went back to cover they’re tracks. Poor old Neil had to live with that for the rest of his life. No wonder he tried to stay out of the public eye.
I watched a clip on you tube where a man approached Armstrong with a bible and asked him to swear on it that he walked on the moon. He got a bit messed up about it and refused. I wonder who the real first man on the moon was and how frustrating it must be for him to have to keep his mouth shut.
I also wonder what type of threat they were given if they opened they’re mouths.
Well they probably haven’t covered all they’re tracks and it won’t be long before the Chinese go there or the Russians. I bet they won’t hold back when they discover the truth.
Rest in peace Neil. If I was him I would have told the world in my last words.
And of course the Moon Landing deniers weren’t even alive when it happened. It would be hilarious if it wasn’t so sad.
I won’t repeat myself but do try to answer my assertions posted above. Or continue being a guttersnipe if you so desire but have you considered having a good pout at me then running and hiding? Fool!
the phrase – .. one giant leap for mankind, was actually the biggest secret joke of the century. everyone had a good laugh. hehe.
what neil armstrong actually meant by “giant leap”: def.
“an extraordinary stretch of the imagination”
“a preposterous assertion attempting to lend credence to a myth”
heheh.. hilarious, still.
