Neil Armstrong: EKG of Astronaut's Heartbeat During First Moon Step Up for Auction

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

The electrocardiogram taken of Apollo 11 Commander Neil Armstrong as he made his first step on the moon, is up for auction.

The EKG sheet is matted and framed with mission patches from Apollo 7, Apollo 8, Apollo 9, Apollo 10, Apollo 11, Apollo 12, Apollo 13 and two Snoopy patches.  It is signed and inscribed in pencil, “To Paul Jones, The heartbeats that made this accomplishment possible as recorded at MCC on my console.  Keep up your heart work.  Charles A. Berry M.D.”

Neil Armstrong’s heartbeat isn’t the only thing up for auction, another 85 pieces of Apollo 11 material is as well including the joystick controller astronauts Michael Collins and Buzz Aldrin used in the Apollo 11 command module.

There seems to be no end to the global appetite of collectors of this rare and historic materia—especially from the amazing Apollo lunar landing missions,” Bobby Livingston, Vice President, Sales & Marketing for RR Auctions, said in a press release. “The Great Space Race was truly a global event, and the collection of memorabilia and artifacts tied to that momentous moment in history is highly prized and sought after. RR Auctions is proud to be able to offer some of the finest and most interesting material available, and this assemblage is by far our most impressive since we began offering specialty aviation and space memorabilia auctions several years ago.”

Neil Armstrong made that giant leap for mankind as he became the first man to walk on the moon on July 20, 1969; six hours after Apollo 11 landed on the moons surface.  He spent about two and half hours outside the spacecraft.

Neil Armstrong passed away in August 2012 at the age of 82.  His ashes were scattered in the Atlantic Ocean from the US aircraft carrier the USS Philippine Sea after a memorial ceremony.

This man will always be apart of our history no matter which country you come from.  And even though the planet suffered a loss the day he passed away, his heart beat reading will be up for the highest bidder.
