NASA LOOKS FOR NIBIRU!!!! 7-18-2013!!

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

NASA has sent SOFIA to New Zeland to Take photos of the incoming NIBIRU!  It is best seen from below the elliptical in the southern hemisphere.

NASA’s SOFIA airborne observatory will be based in New Zealand for the next two weeks, taking advantage of the Southern Hemisphere’s orientation to study celestial objects that are difficult or impossible to see in the northern sky.

SOFIA, formally known as the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy, deployed to the United States Antarctic Program’s facilities at Christchurch International Airport last week and completed its first science flight at 4 a.m. local time July 18 (noon EDT July 17). A team of scientists, engineers, pilots and technicians from the United States and Germany are deployed with SOFIA to support as many as nine research flights through Aug. 1.

SOFIA is a modified Boeing 747SP aircraft that carries a telescope with an effective diameter of 100 inches (250 centimeters). It provides astronomers access to the visible, infrared and submillimeter spectrum.

On the first flight in New Zealand, astronomers used SOFIA to observe the disk of gas and dust orbiting the black hole at the center of our Milky Way galaxy, and two dwarf galaxies, the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds, which accompany the Milky Way. The Magellanic Clouds can be seen easily with the naked eye in the southern sky.

“SOFIA’s deployment to the Southern Hemisphere shows the remarkable versatility of this observatory, which is the product of years of fruitful collaboration and cooperation between the U.S. and German space agencies,” said Paul Hertz, director of NASA’s Astrophysics Division in Washington. “This is just the first of a series of SOFIA scientific deployments envisioned over the mission’s planned 20-year lifetime.”

A vital part of the collaboration is a far-infrared spectrometer, the German Receiver for Astronomy at Terahertz Frequencies (GREAT). Mounted on SOFIA’s telescope for the entire deployment, GREAT is especially suited for studies of interstellar gas and the life cycle of stars.

“The success of the GREAT spectrometer in addressing exciting scientific questions at far-infrared wavelengths was demonstrated during SOFIA’s earlier, Northern Hemisphere flights,” said Rolf Guesten of the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy in Bonn, Germany, and leader of the German researchers who developed the spectrometer.

“Now, we are turning the instrument to new frontiers such as the Magellanic Clouds, including the Tarantula Nebula – that is the most active star-forming region known in the local group of galaxies.”

SOFIA project scientist Pamela Marcum said the results anticipated from observations made during the aircraft’s deployment will further scientists’ understanding of star formation, stellar evolution and chemistry in stellar clouds.

“The deployment exemplifies the synergistic relationship between SOFIA’s international partners, with NASA playing a crucial role in the planning and execution of the science observations,” Marcum said.

Thank you very much. I see nothing that states “to see Nibiru” so I have to presume this is your fantasy. I am thanking you because now when I see your name I know the articles will be bogus and I won’t waste my time.

I appreciate your comment and apologize that the news article does not confirm the mission plans. I work at Ellington Field for NASA, I work for the group that operates the WB-57Fs, we map areas around the globe with high altitude LiDAR. I only post this article about SOFIA being in New Zealand because one of the operational guys here at Ellington who works with SOFIA has told us that the mission was to look for a specific planetoid body in our solar system. Sorry that the cover up continues, I just wanted to pass the word on the true nature of the observations.

          Hi Jewishglue,

Can you give more details like when the object will cross the ecliptic plane and have to move a ‘safe’ place..

          thanks

        • Jester

Well a planetoid is smaller than a planet, and there are many theories suggesting that such objects exist out in the Kyper belt. Several plaentoid sized objects have been discovered already.

(A planetoid would be smaller than Pluto)

So, theres really nothing to that story that necessarily suggests Nibiru. Just a routine look out into the stars to discover more about our own solar system.

        • Jewishglue

Yes a planetoid would be considered a Minor Planet, but the definition does not classify it having to be smaller the Pluto. What I can tell you is that we do not need to use SOFIA to detect an object like that of a comet, meteor, or dwarf planet. SOFIA is designed much like the original telescope IRAS that first discovered an object in 1983 that was not previously found due to very low heat signature. IRAS used systems on board to keep it extremely cool in order to see this object. SOFIA uses something similar but with the latest and greatest advances. Currently we do not have this capability in our space born telescopes. I am sure that no one wants to release a statement that we are searching for a massive heavenly body that is traveling through. I just know how these projects work and where the funding comes from.

        • Jester

You’re right the definition does not require it to be smaller than pluto, but pluto is on the larger side of the planetoid size scale. So much so that I believe it is the largest planetoid on record. I listed it as a point of reference.

But as I said: I don’t see any reason to believe that this is anything more than a common search and discover mission. Nothing here leads me to believe that they are searching for something new passing THROUGH the solar system. They could simply be looking for things out in the Kyper belt that have not yet been discovered for all the same reasons that you just listed.

Jewishglue, You have still answered my question.. How far is it from now or you don’t have any idea?

My sources tell somewhere around the year 2015.

        • jgill

          *still not

        • Jewishglue

@jgill, from the circle of people I work with the discussion is always centered around the twin to our sun. They say that are solar system is just like millions of others and is a binary star system. A singular sun is more on the uncommon side of things. My role is based around projects for the military and private companies that use us to MAP things from such a high altitude that we are undetectable. But to answer your question I have heard that this twin to the Sun will eventuality cross our inner solar system end of 2014. I have no proof that it is a concrete date, all I know for sure is they are aware of this binary star. I will continue to update with more in depth information if I can get more answers.

        • jgill

@Jewishglue, thanks for the reply. That is what I heard as well. I also believe in the theory that sun is a part of binary star system. The object which I hear will by end of 2014 enter inner solar system and cause cataclysm by mid 2015 or even later.
