Lee is the Senior Reviews Editor at Ars, and is responsible for the site’s product news and reviews section. A long-time member of the Ars OpenForum, Lee has an extensive background in enterprise storage and security, having spent nearly a decade at The Boeing Company as an enterprise architect before departing to work at EMC and then later Symantec. In addition to product reviews, Lee also writes the occasional long-form piece on manned space flight or gaming. He lives in Houston and spends far too much money on obscure single-malt scotches.

Jeff Smith comes to discuss the recent Space Expedition Corp (Spacexc.com) event at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles.
Jeffrey L Smith turned his lifelong passion for space into a career as a rocket propulsion engineer. For the past 8 years, he has worked in the aerospace and defense industry, with a focus on launch and in-space propulsion systems. He graduated from from Brigham Young University where he received his Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering. While working full-time, Jeffrey continued to pursue his love of space and he received his Masters of Science in Astronautical Engineering from the University of Southern California. When not working, Jeffrey enjoys flying and instructing in gliders and airplanes with his wife Hayley. Jeffrey grew up in Livermore, California but now calls Tucson, Arizona home.

Mrs. Shotwell was named President of SpaceX in November 2008. Mrs. Shotwell joined SpaceX in 2002 as Vice President of Business Development to generate and manage SpaceX’s customer base and the company’s strategic and government relations. In that role, she built the Falcon vehicle family manifest to 29 launches, representing over $2B in revenue. Shotwell is responsible for operational activities of SpaceX, including sales, marketing, manufacturing, launch operations, legal, government relations and finance. Previously, she served for ten years at The Aerospace Corporation and before that, directed business development at Microcosm, Inc. She began her engineering career at Chrysler Motors. Mrs. Shotwell received, with honors, her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from Northwestern University in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mathematics. She is active in the Professional Aerospace community, as an elected executive member of the California Space Authority Board of Directors, former officer for both the Space Systems Technical Committee and the LA Section of the AIAA and heads the Frank J. Redd Student scholarship competition raising over $200,000 in scholarships in four years. Mrs. Shotwell developed curricula and taught courses in Systems engineering at the introductory, management, and team levels. Mrs. Shotwell has authored papers in a wide variety of areas from standardizing spacecraft/payload interfaces to Space Shuttle integration and reentry vehicle operational risks.

ANTHONY YOUNG comes to discuss Returning to the Moon, SLS, his book “The Saturn V F-1 Engine: Powering Apollo Into History” and much more.
Anthony Young graduated from Pratt Institute and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Design. He began writing shortly after graduating, initially in the area of automotive history. He specialized in engine histories and the cars they powered. These books included the Chevrolet Small-block and Big-Block V-8s, the Chrysler Hemi, and several other books. He wrote an article for Automobile Quarterly on the design, development and use of the Lunar Roving Vehicle used on Apollo 15, 16 and 17. This led to a book contract with Springer/Praxis for the book Lunar and Planetary Rovers. He followed up with The Saturn V F-1 Engine – Powering Apollo Into History. His articles have appeared in Space Times magazine and QUEST – The History of Spaceflight Quarterly. He has been a regular contributor to the online weekly The Space Review since 2009.
