Voyager Space Probe | 40 Years Since the Interstellar Mission Launch
Voyager program is made up of two space probes, Voyager 1 and Voyager 2. They were launched in 1977 to take advantage of the favourable position of the planets in the late 1970s. The official mission of the missions was to study the planets of Saturn and Jupiter, but this is outdated, at this time the probes (still in operation) are at the edge of the Solar System far beyond Pluto’s orbit. On August 20, 40 years have passed since the launch of the Voyager mission, which included two twin probes to explore the vastness of our solar system. NASA has called on the public to conceive a message that will be sent to the space probe Voyager 1 on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of its launch into space.
Voyager 1 is a space probe launched by NASA on September 5, 1977, currently (2017) still in operation. Visited the planets Saturn and Jupiter, is the first probe to transmit images to the satellites of these planets.
On December 7, 2007, it is at a distance of 104.7 AU from the Sun, being the furthest object made by humans, and will retain this feature because it has the highest speed to the Sun and Earth of all the launched probes. In 2009 it is 10 billion kilometres away from Earth, and the transmitted radio signals take about 15 hours to reach the Earth.
