Transcendence Theater Brings Back Spirit of Art and Community in Sonoma

I had the wonderful chance to watch a play last night in Glenn Ellen CA, a few miles away from Sonoma with my 6 year old daughter, called “One Day More” The Gala Celebration of Transcendence Theater Company’s First Inaugural season. As you know I featured Amy Miller, one of the founders and artistic director of TTC recently and it was a fantastic interview.

The Transcendence Theatre Company (TTC) is a professional regional theatre company in Sonoma, California that specializes in producing Broadway Concerts and Musicals in the majestic open-air ruins of a historic winery in Jack London State Historic Park. The company is made up of musical theatre artists with Broadway, National Tour, International Tour, Film, and Television credits. TTC’s Inaugural 2012 Summer Festival will include a series of “Broadway Under The Stars” Concerts along with community service, engagement, and education programs throughout the entire Sonoma Valley. Through an innovative arts + parks partnership, TTC is partnering with a nonprofit park operator, the Valley of the Moon Natural History Association, to bring live theater and cultural education programming into Jack London State Historic Park, while saving it from slated closure as result of state budget cuts. Jack London State Park was one of the parks slated to close recently but TTC was able to help revive the park and with the power of this group’s dream it’s there, still standing, seeing better days.

My daughter and I truly enjoyed the show. It was goosebumps all around. Imagine a beautifully lit stage, with such talented performers… under the stars, by the rock ruins ….one with nature. I teared up a lil when Brooke Tansley sang “Someone Like You” from Jekyll & Hyde. Such an AWESOME cast!

“When are we going back to see this again Mommy?” was the first thing she said when the play ended. This is her first play ever and I was so happy to hear she has the same interest for the arts!

It was so inspiring to have witnessed the blossoming of TTC. I see only bigger brighter days to come for this company.
