SOULSPEAK WITH SIMON PAUL SUTTON (a.k.a. "Simon The Sofa")

Simon on the Sofa is Simon Paul Sutton a being much like you, unique and alive on what we have called a planet. I made a commitment to spread love and communicate my truth in order to empower others to break out of the fear and lies in which hold us all back from the full expression of who we are. And to dance in this indescribable mystical and magical existence. Simon on the Sofa emerged from my desire to record conversations with people from all walks of life to show we are all the same at our core and to support people along their journey. It is my vulnerable transparent exploration of communication which has now birthed “Burglar to Buddha” my journey transparently expressed to empower the youth of today to take responsibility for their lives – www.burglartobuddha.com  

I’m living in the dream and since surrendering to what is, I am not sure I am in control of anything. The dream is the dream and I seem to be a part of that magic. I am also very grateful to say I am also living my aspirations which is to celebrate in every moment the gift of life and that all that I am is more than enough. The intangible is more abundant and beyond a price tag. I celebrate breath and die to my identity, habits and addictions or any story of needing more to fulfill this existence. The irony and the paradox as you know is, when we need no-thing the ability to receive more emerges and that more is beyond any more we could have ever imagined in our desire for more things, objects, status, acknowledgment, recognition or label. To live for humanity and consciously evolve and serve in awareness is a gift I feel honoured to walk. The goal if there is one is to continue, the journey is the destination.   

The birth of this idea is really beautifully told in the 4 short videos we created to tell such a unique and wonderful love story. The most memorable was the one which came back to me 17 hours after writing it. If I can get this into words it will be awesome. So here goes…… I was asked to record a video for a friend who is the editor of Prediction Magazine, an exchange. Alex and Gemma wanted a video for their website and I wanted to promote Simon on the Sofa. I didn’t really know Gemma and on the day of filming I was excited to show off the Global Love Letter movement as they are both all about love too. So I showed them both. Later that day me and Pedro left and got the bus from north east London to the city. On the way I recorded a video of me writing a love letter which is now on the site. As we got off I left it on the back seat of the bus. No expectation, job done. Then in the morning the next day I got a message from Gemma on facebook saying I think you will like this – it was this picture attached of a hand written letter (my letter) and the text read - 

I just had one of, if not the hardest and emotionally draining afternoons at work ever. I get on the bus to find this waiting in my seat. Whoever left it I FUCKING love you too.

I got tingles all over the body, hairs on end. Told everybody in the flat. I then realised that the person picked up the letter back in north east London so the letter did the whole 45 minute journey of more back to where we came from and to the person who needed it most. I have no clue how many people may have seen it in that time but either way it was so wonderful to hear. It was the first time we had any feedback too which made it even more memorable. There are so many amazing testimonials now it really is heart warming and so simple. The Global love letter movement is so magical because it has no agenda, the giving and the receiving happen simultaneously and the love does what it only knows how. 

A few months after launching the website we received this message on the testimonial page:

A few months ago I had one of the most hectic days I have ever had. I had people shouting at each other through me, people waiting for me to sort a problem out so they could go home from work, and a guy using the excuse that he carried severed limbs up from the underground on 7/7 in an argument with me. And it was actually relevant! I don’t ever remember being more stressed and in need of love ever before. I got on the bus and moved an envelope saying ‘For you’ out of the way. I actually kinda knew what it was- did the paperwork I needed to do and then opened it. It was so perfectly timed and beautiful that it made me cry. I showed everyone. Then on Sunday I bumped into my lovely friend Gemma and she told me something I never thought I’d know- who wrote it! It’s difficult to put the appreciation into words so I’m not going to try. You can imagine.

Look in the mirror for 20 minutes into your own eyes and don’t label what you see.  

That I knew anything. 

This whole experience, all of it beyond any label of what it is or not, beyond right and wrong. My mum for dedicating her life to bring me into this world. My dad for his sperm (he left when I was one) I love him for that too, he did all he had to do and I honor his path as I honor my mums. Grateful I do not wake up in fear, that I am not in a part of the planet where war and the pain body is so rife that it is taking life for no reason at all. Not to say that doesn’t happen in the UK because it does. I am just not in that frequency anymore. I grew up in it and I now opt for the celebration of what we call death so I can celebrate life even more. I respect life and its absolute wonder, the awe of the diversity and uniqueness of every aspect of this existence whatever it is…………….no one cell the same, no one butterfly, no one fly, no one hair follicle, no one anything. That’s enough to celebrate and dance.    

All of the above with a little extra communication and  intimacy. I don’t know what a soul is. I associate the soul to all that I seem to be and all that you are and all that I see, smell, hear, taste, and feel and all that I cannot see beyond the five sense reality. All the mirrors and the multi-dimensions, each person a parallel universe, every living thing giving me a view into a world, multiple worlds with infinite colours, noises, textures and possibilities of the unknown evolving creative impulse. It is exciting diving, free-falling into nothing and everything at once, what a blast of total vulnerability.     

The significance of 2012 would to be to observe the unknown unfolding and potential to unite and blossom into a collective unified field of conscious awareness, where we all become more aware of the emptiness and nothingness of reality, allowing us to move out of our shackles and invisible prisons so we can be in our natural state if there is such a thing. Are we nature? Is it possible we could be evolving into the opposite of what we have witnessed thus far? Are we already witnessing all that is? Isn’t all that is, enough? And isn’t it already here? Nothing needs to be changed, nothing needs to be done. Maybe this is what the message could be! 

As more and more information arises there seems to be an energy which is creating a new vibration, a new frequency for us to play amongst and to resonate with. It seems to be showing us there are a lot of lies and dysfunction occurring. So much we don’t know even in the human society we have created with words and labels. It’s interesting to sit back and observe and to play and explore in the wonder. 

For me as you have probably gathered from this article I don’t like to assume or proclaim. I like to invite possibilities and questions. I’m very curious but as you know curiosity killed the cat! I don’t know what is happening even in this moment as I sit here typing into this plastic key board made from oil from the planet in which I walk. I wouldn’t like to say I know what is happening and I wouldn’t like to say I know if I shall breathe another moment. 

I guess I know one or two guarantees and one is that I shall leave this body in the form it is now and two I have no clue what will happen after this even if there is an after. I also am not too bothered. In this moment I am extremely in awe and grateful, appreciated to be here. I am feeling extremely blessed to use death and the acknowledgment of death to truly respect and embrace all of life. Life and death being one. I have also found making fear your friend and using it as a guide to be extremely beneficial for my own experience here on the planet. The human cannot grasp infinite so best not to try explaining it in words.  

Is 2012 any more significant than any other year? I don’t know. Maybe if we were alive in the 30s we may have had other things that were significant. Each generation has its own stories to play with. The world was flat and now its round. This metaphor continues constantly along the many cycles of life. 2012 was significant as a point of focus and then it will be 2013 and 2015 and so on and so on. I think every moment is significant. I just love being here alive another moment to make people shine and love their existence as I do the same. It’s fun.       

Show me your uniqueness as a free expression of the unique creature of creation you are. You are loved and worth loving, dance to the rhythm of your heart, you are life force and your life is precious and temporary, celebrate death and life as one and be mindful not to separate yourself from the whole, but if you do that’s okay too. Love everyone and everything as its all you.
