I once dreamed I was a spider. As a spider I was aware I was a spider, and aware I was supposed to be a man. I spun my web instinctively and as a spider I knew exactly how to do it, as a man I had no idea. I sat in my web for days talking to the other spiders. None of them were men, in fact most did not even know what this man thing was. They thought I was foolish for believing there was higher possibilities, and that I was part of them. In the dream my spider body grew hungry, a terrible nagging need that slowly consumed all of my attention. A fly, a common housefly, flew into my web. With great excitement I subdued the fly, but did not eat. The man that was me said “ew this is a fly” and was repulsed by the idea of eating a fly. The other spiders saw this as weakness and told me that once hunger had sufficiently weakened me that they would eat both me and my fly. Weak from starvation, my spider body screaming out instinctively for survival I finally succumbed to my need to eat the fly. It was delicious, I was aware that it would not taste the same with my human tongue. With my spider body and spider senses the fly was literally a sweet nectar, a divine juice box supernaturally delicious. I have never tasted anything so good as that fly. I woke with the taste of the fly lingering in my mind and a not so distant memory of what it is like to be a spider.
