Proof From Luke that Messiah taught the Old Testament and His Father is the God of the Old Testament 5

Now as I come to Luke chapter six, a real issue comes up about Messiah and sabbath.  To those who do not know the law or who keep Sabbaths on a regular basis according to the Torah and not according to the Talmud, I admit the way this scripture is presented, especially in the KJV it seems as if Messiah is ignoring the laws of YHWH about Sabbath, and saying that He is the Lord of Sabbath so He will do as He pleases.  This is not the so case however, when you do keep the Sabbaths of YHWH according to His Word.

So lets look at the laws of sabbath according to the Word of YHWH.   Lets look at the events of Luke chapter 6 and lets look at the law according to the Talmud and see what is really going on here.

First lets look to Luke :

 ( a note about the scipture I am using. This is a LITERAL translation of the Word.  I use it and the KJV and a Strongs to do my studies and I use this tool : www.e-sword.net )

Luk 6:1  And it happened on the second chief sabbath, He passed along through the sown fields. And His disciples plucked the heads and were eating, rubbing with the hands.
Luk 6:2  But some of the Pharisees said to them, Why do you do that which is not lawful to do on the sabbaths?
Luk 6:3  And answering, Jesus said to them, Have you never read this, what David did when he hungered, and those being with him?
Luk 6:4  How he went into the house of God, and he took the Loaves of Presentation, and ate, and even gave to those with him, which it is not lawful to eat, except only the priests?
Luk 6:5  And He said to them, The Son of Man is Lord of the sabbath also.
Luk 6:6  And it also happened on another sabbath, He going into the synagogue and teaching. And a man was there, and his right hand was withered.
Luk 6:7  And the scribes and the Pharisees kept close by Him, to see if He would heal on the sabbath, so that they might find a charge against Him.
Luk 6:8  But He knew their reasonings. And He said to the man having the withered hand, Rise up and stand in the middle! And rising up, he stood.
Luk 6:9  Then Jesus said to them, I will ask you one thing, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbaths, or to do ill, to save a life, or to destroy it?
Luk 6:10  And having looked around at them all, He said to the man, Stretch out your hand! And he did so. And his hand was restored sound as the other.
Luk 6:11  But they were filled with madness and talked to one another as to what they might do to Jesus.
Luk 6:12  And it happened in these days, He went out into the mountain to pray. And He was spending the night in prayer to God.
Luk 6:13  And when it became day, He called His disciples, also choosing out twelve from them, whom He also named apostles:
Luk 6:14  Simon, whom He also named Peter; and his brother Andrew; James and John; Philip and Bartholomew;
Luk 6:15  Matthew and Thomas; James the son of Alpheus, and Simon, the one being called Zealot;
Luk 6:16  Judas brother of James; and Judas Iscariot, who also became the betrayer.
Luk 6:17  And coming down with them, He stood on a level place. And a crowd of His disciples, and a great multitude of the people were there from all Judea and Jerusalem, and from the coast country of Tyre and Sidon. These came to hear Him, and to be healed from their diseases,
Luk 6:18  also those who had been tormented by unclean spirits. And they were healed.
Luk 6:19  And all the crowd sought to touch Him, because power went out from Him and healed all.
Luk 6:20  And lifting up His eyes to His disciples, He said: Blessed are the poor, for the kingdom of God is yours.
Luk 6:21  Blessed are those hungering now, for you will be filled. Blessed are those weeping now, for you will laugh.
Luk 6:22  Blessed are you when men hate you, and when they cut you off, and will reproach you, and will cast out your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man;
Luk 6:23  rejoice in that day, and leap for joy; for, behold, your reward is much in Heaven! For their fathers did according to these things to the prophets.
Luk 6:24  But woe to you, rich ones, for you have your comfort!
Luk 6:25  Woe to you, those having been filled, for you will hunger! Woe to you, those laughing now, for you will mourn and lament!
Luk 6:26  Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for their fathers did according to these things to the false prophets.
Luk 6:27  But I say to you, Those hearing: Love the ones hostile to you, do good to those hating you,
Luk 6:28  bless those cursing you and pray for those insulting you.
Luk 6:29  To those striking you on the cheek, turn the other also. And from those taking your garment, do not keep back the tunic also.
Luk 6:30  And to everyone asking you, give. And do not ask back from those taking your things.
Luk 6:31  And according as you desire that men should do to you, you also do the same to them.
Luk 6:32  And if you love those who love you, what thanks is there to you? For even sinners love those who love them.
Luk 6:33  And if you do good to those who do good to you, what thanks is there to you? For even the sinners do the same.
Luk 6:34  And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what thanks is there to you? For the sinners lend to sinners so that they may receive the equal things.
Luk 6:35  But love the ones hostile to you, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be much; and you will be sons of the Most High, for He is kind to the unthankful and evil ones.
Luk 6:36  Therefore, be merciful, even as your Father also is merciful.
Luk 6:37  Judge not, and in no way be judged. Do not condemn, and in no way you will be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
Luk 6:38  Give, and good measure will be given to you, pressed down and shaken together, and running over, they will give into your bosom. For the same measure which you measure, it will be measured back to you.
Luk 6:39  And He spoke a parable to them: A blind one is not able to guide a blind one. Will they not both fall into the ditch?
Luk 6:40  A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who has been perfected will be like his teacher.
Luk 6:41  But why do you look on the chip in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the beam in your own eye?
Luk 6:42  Or how can you say to your brother, Brother, allow me to take out the chip in your eye, not yourself seeing the log in your eye? Hypocrite! First take the beam out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the chip in your brother’s eye.
Luk 6:43  For there is not a good tree that produces bad fruit, nor a bad tree that produces good fruit.
Luk 6:44  For each tree is known from its own fruit. For they do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush.
Luk 6:45  The good man brings forth good out of the good treasure of his heart. And the evil man brings forth evil out of the evil treasure of his heart, for his mouth speaks out of the abundance of his heart.
Luk 6:46  And why do you call Me Lord, Lord, and do not do what I say?
Luk 6:47  Everyone coming to Me and hearing My Words, and doing them, I will show you to whom he is like:
Luk 6:48  He is like a man building a house, who dug and deepened, and laid a foundation on the rock. And a flood having occurred, the stream burst against that house and could not shake it, for it had been founded on the rock.
Luk 6:49  But he who heard and did not perform, he is like a man having built his house on the earth without a foundation, on which the stream burst, and it immediately fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

There is the whole and now I will take out and explain to you what is meant and the Torah that applies to parts of this chapter.

Luk 6:1  And it happened on the second chief sabbath, He passed along through the sown fields. And His disciples plucked the heads and were eating, rubbing with the hands.

So I bet you are wondering what a chief sabbath and a second chief sabbath are.  First of all sabbath means this in the hebrew language.  While this is written in Greek the term is a HEBREW word.

H7676

שַׁבָּת
shabbâth
shab-bawth’
Intensive from H7673; intermission, that is, (specifically) the Sabbath: –  (+ every) sabbath.
Total KJV occurrences: 111

here is the first time the word sabbath appears in the KJV of the OLD YESTAMENT:

Gen 2:2  And on the seventhH7637 dayH3117 GodH430 endedH3615 his workH4399 whichH834 he had made;H6213 and he restedH7673 on the seventhH7637 dayH3117 from allH4480 H3605 his workH4399 whichH834 he had made.H6213

he restedH7673

H7673

שָׁבַת
shâbath
shaw-bath’
A primitive root; to repose, that is, desist from exertion; used in many implied relations (causatively, figuratively or specifically): – (cause to, let, make to) cease, celebrate, cause (make) to fail, keep (sabbath), suffer to be lacking, leave, put away (down), (make to) rest, rid, still, take away.
Total KJV occurrences: 71

And this is where we get the first commandment that YHWH ever gave, to rest on the seventh day because He rested on the seventh day after restoring the earth from being void and making all the things on it, and mankind.   We obey Him.  He emulate Him and do as He does.  It is a feast day and a blessing.  We rejoice that we are NOT THE SLAVES OF MEN WHO MUST TOIL SEVEN DAYS A WEEK, BUT ARE THE SLAVES OF YHWH WHO LOVES US AND ALLOWS US TO BE AS KINGS AND HAVE REST AND FEASTING EVERY WEEK JUST AS HE DOES.  In case you are not familiar with Sabbath, that is why many keep it.

Now in the case of LUKE 1 this is not just a seventh day sabbath.  This is a feast day and a sabbath  There are other days of rest in the keeping of the commandments and the keeping of the feasts of YHWH.  The feasts are declarations by YHWH of holy days and rehersals of days to come.  We keep them because He said to keep them and we do not do things that MEN TELL US TO DO, BUT THE THINGS THAT FATHER YHWH TELLS US TO DO.  So what day is this in Luke?

“Then on the fifteenth day of the same month there is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to Yahweh; for seven days you shall eat unleavened bread.  On the first day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall not do any laborious work.  But for seven days you shall present an offering by fire to Yahweh.  On the seventh day is a holy convocation; you shall not do any laborious work.”

Therefore, their first sabbath in this period would have been the first day of Unleavened Bread.  The last sabbath would have been the seventh day.  But, generally falling within this in-between period would have been a seventh-day sabbath as well.  Also, as we saw in Mark 16:9, this seventh-day sabbath during this feast is called a chief sabbath.  In Luke 6:1, we find that Yahshua’s disciples were eating barley on the second chief sabbath, which in the order of these Unleavened Bread sabbaths would have been the very sabbath upon which Yahshua would later resurrect!  The second chief sabbath was thus the second of these three sabbaths at Unleavened Bread.

So the feast of unleavened bread was going on and barley is a big part of this sabbath.  So were they breaking the commandments of YHWH? Lets look at the law and see:

Exo 20:8  Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy;
Exo 20:9  six days you shall labor and do all your work;
Exo 20:10  and the seventh day is a sabbath to Jehovah your God; you shall not do any work, you, and your son, and your daughter, your male slave and your slave-girl, and your livestock, and your stranger who is in your gates.
Exo 20:11  For in six days Jehovah made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all which is in them, and He rested on the seventh day; on account of this Jehovah blessed the sabbath day and sanctified it.

So the men were they harvesting this barley and putting it away in a barn somewhere. Toiling the hot sun all day to earn a wage? or were they hungry and eating a few grains of barley that they plucked?  ding ding ding

They were not doing anything that was WORKING.  So what problem could these men from the temple have had with this? I cannot post the entire work here as it would be so huge, but I will post the link to the wiki for you to go look at what men did to those four little verses.

In the Babylonian Talmud there are chapters and chapters of made up rules about sabbath.  About carrying things in your house and out of your house.  About making mud which you will find Messiah also did on sabbath to heal a man.  About throwing things against a wall, like a ball or dice.  ( it depends on how high you throw it)  I tell you that men took Fathers Word and added to it to the point that it is unrecongizable and almost impossible to keep.  But then they make other rules that help you to break the rules that they made.  ITS STUPID.  and nothing like what FATHER YHWH SAID FOR US TO DO.  NOT WORK. period.

The fact is the disciples were not breaking the laws of sabbath, they were breaking the laws of the Talmud which is something that makes the laws of YHWH void and brings a curse to those who teach and do such things according to the COMMANDMENTS OF YHWH.

Deu 4:2  You shall not add to the Word which I command you, nor take from it, to keep the commandments of Jehovah your God which I command you.

this is geting long so I will finish with the second sabbath incident in Luke 6 tomorrow.

Be blessed, Keep YHWH’s commandment without adding to them or taking away from them.
