Pagan Eye: A Rite of Sticks and Stones at Kingley Vale

This is the second photo of signs of ritual activity at Kingley Vale sent to my by the artist ROYCURTIS. Both pictures show magical workings in the ancient yew forest in Sussex. The earlier one was a group of straw dolls left as offerings; this shows circles of stones and sticks. He wrote:

“From memory, I thought the signs of these workings were found in the same place, but the times that the photos were captured indicate that they could be separated by up to a mile (by the wending of the winding paths).”

I would imagine that the groupings were made from natural items found in the wood and then re-arranged. A few years ago, I blogged about a ritual you can do with found objects. This has the advantage of not leaving things at a site that were not there when you arrived, and so does not harm the environment.
