Pittsburgh Steelers: Jonathan Dwyer Likely See Increased Action Due to Backfield Injuries

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been dealing with injured running backs since the 2011 NFL playoffs, and yet here we are almost eight months later and it’s still an issue.

In what could be considered good news, Rashard Mendenhall, who is returning from an ACL injury, was listed as doubtful for Sunday’s match up against the Denver Broncos; the good part being that he was listed at all.

Along with Mendenhall’s uncertain status, there are doubts about the health of Isaac Redman and Baron Batch and how ready they will be on Sunday.

The Steelers best option at this point is third-year back Jonathan Dwyer.

Dwyer rushed for 147 yards on 28 attempts, averaging 5.3 yards per carry during the preseason.

Dwyer is rumored to be in the best shape of his career. Will this be the Sunday where he gets to suit up and show Steeler nation what he is made of?
