Start’em Sit’em Week 10

Start’em Sit’em Week 10

One of the questions I seem to keep asking myself is, “When will all the injuries stop”? The answer I have come up with is, “They Won’t”. Week after week top players are going down, hell I lost three players in one league last Sunday. Then you throw in the bye weeks, and the weather taking a turn for the worse in some cities, and what you could have is a big mess. Going into the home stretch for those of you trying to make the playoffs, or even playing the role of spoiler to one of your buddies, starting the right guy or knowing that little bit of added information will help you get there. So for week 10 I have just that little something that will help with all of these issues; so here we go.

“The Don’t Over Think’em Starters”

QB – Tony Romo

The problem with the Dallas Cowboys isn’t Tony Romo, it’s bad play calling. Once the Cowboys are behind they open up and Romo gets his numbers. This week against a very confused and bad Philadelphia Eagles Defense, Romo has a great game. He throws for 300 yards and 2 TDs.

Start him!

RB – Michael Turner

Everyone is worried about whether Rodgers is going to take over for Turner. The answer is, “Not Yet”. Over the past two games Turner has had the most carries per game he has had all season. So this Sunday against my favorite D, the Saints, Turner has a “Burner” of a day. Rushing for over 100 yards, and at least 1 TD.

WR – Brandon Marshall

As hot as Brandon Marshall has been, that’s how good the Texans D has been. Something has to give, and based on how good Marshall has been, I think he steps up against a real good team, and still delivers.

Marshall has 8 to 9 receptions, 90 to 100 receiving, and 1 TD.

“The Great Match-Up Favorites”

QB – Phillip Rivers

I have stated at least a few times this season at how disappointed I am with Phillip Rivers. Well here we are in another crucial week and I find myself picking him again. When it comes to making picks you can’t hold a grudge against a player. The fact of the matter is, Rivers has a great match up against the worst secondary in football. The Bucs give up over 320 yards a game passing, and this week Rivers will deliver. He throws for over 300 yards and gets at least 2 TDs.

RB – Stevan Ridley

The last time these two teams met, Ridley had a great game.  Since that time not much has changed; the Bills can’t stop anyone and Ridley has been pretty solid. In a repeat performance from week 4,  Ridley has a phenomenal day, over 100 yards rushing, and at least 1 TD.

WR – Mike Wallace

Wallace has had an up and down season, just as many players have.  He has only had one game with over 100 yards receiving this year. With Antonio Brown looking like he may be out this week, I see Wallace having a big game.  He gets 7 to 8 receptions, 90 to 100 yards receiving, and 1 TD.

“The Tempting Sleepers”

QB - Ryan Fitzpatrick

Over the past couple of seasons the match up between the Buffalo Bills and the  New England Patriots has been outstanding, unless you like defense.

Now Fitzpatrick isn’t the most consistent of QB’s, but against the Patriots he is motivated and ready to play.

This go around should be no different, Fitzpatrick throws for over 300 yards, and 2 TDs.

RB – Vick Ballard

I have stayed away from picking Ballard a few times, but this week with Donald Brown most likely being out, this is the week for Ballard to shine.  The Jags are having a horrible season, and can’t stop anyone.  With my sleeper pick of the week Ballard runs for 90 to 100 yards, and 1 TD.

WR – Mike Williams

With all the attention that Vincent Jackson is now garnering, Williams has become a solid number 2 WR. Three out of the past four games Williams has scored in double digits and has 3 TDs over that span as well. In what should be a shoot out, Williams gets 6 to 7 receptions, 80 to 90 yards receiving, and 1 TD.

“Play At Your Own Peril”

QB – Matt Schaub

This is the premiere match up of the weekend, a Sunday night battle of two teams at 7-1. I have lived in Chicago most of my life, and for all the great defenses the Bears have had, this group could turn out to be the best.

Their secondary play has been outstanding to say the least, (yes Packer fans, I know Rodgers torched them) and this week they will shut the Texans down.

RB – Ryan Mathews

Now if there was ever a team at complete opposites of the defensive spectrum, the Bucs are it. Number 1 against the run and last against the pass. Now whether that’s because teams don’t have to run against them or not,  Mathews will still continue his lack luster season.

WR – Andre Johnson

Here’s my 2 for 1 special, when the Bears shut down Schaub that means Johnson will suffer as well. Now I tried this last week, and it didn’t go completely as planned, but this week being blanketed by Tillman or Jennings, Andre gets shut down.

Last Week Recap

Start’em “The Hits”

  • Larry Fitzgerald – He did what he could but it wasn’t enough for the win, he still had a good day, 6 catches for 74 yards and 1 TD.
  • Josh Freeman – Just as I predicted, the Slacker only throws 2 TD’s, maybe Doug Martin had a little to do with that.

Sit’em “The Hits”

None

Start’em “Just Short”

  • Matthew Stafford – 285 yards passing but no TD’s, again a certain RB might have had something to do with that.
  • Trent Richardson- Maybe I’m being hard in my critiques, but 105 yards rushing and no TD’s is short of what I called.
  • Reggie Bush – Just the flip of Trent, 1 TD but only 41 yards rushing.
  • Andre Johnson – 8 catches for 118 yards is a real good day, but again the cursed no TD’s.

Sit’em “Just not quite a Bust”

  • Andy Dalton – Had a good but not a great day, 299 and 1 TD, he almost got me again.
  • Julio Jones/ Roddy White – Just like my Start’em picks, had the yards but couldn’t find the end zone.

Start’em “Bust”

  • Felix Jones – 21 yards and couldn’t sniff the end zone, did he even play?
  • Cecil Shorts – Came up just a tad short, 3 catches for 56 yards and again, no TD’s

Sit’em “Bust”

  • Chris Johnson – Was right on track up until the garbage 80 yard run, either way he busted my pick.
