Start’em Sit’em Week 13

Start’em Sit’em Week 13

Here we are on the cusp of another fantasy football playoff season. I know there are some leagues where the playoffs begin this week, but for the most part next week is it!! So no injury talk this week, if you’ve got some injuries then hopefully you have a deep enough bench by now to cover yourself. If your bench isn’t the greatest then hopefully you looked at our waiver wire report earlier in the week and got some great advice from Ryan. This is not a week for gambling on who you should start, even with the players that I recommended for this weeks “Play at your own Peril” are more of a word to the wise.

“The Don’t Over Think’em Starters”

QB – Robert Griffin III

Some of you fantasy owners may be hesitant to start RG3 after watching how the Giants handled Aaron Rodgers last week, but don’t be fooled into thinking they can do the same  to Redskins rookie sensation. It’s true the Giants have been playing better Defense, but they’re still giving up over 250 yards a game passing. RG3 will make it 3 solid weeks in a row, against the “G Men”, he throws for over 270 yards and has at least 2 TDs.

RB – Chris Johnson

CJ2K is about to face a very tough divisional foe this week in playing the Texans. Many fantasy owners will be hesitant, yet the Texans were the team where Chris Johnson’s resurgence began. CJ2k seems to thrive on playing well against the better D’s in the league. His best 2 games of the year so far were against the Bears and the Texans. This week I feel that will continue, Johnson rushes for over 100 yards and scores at least 1 TD.

WR – Randall Cobb

When it comes to Randall Cobb and what his production may be for the remainder of the season, there may be 2 differing opinions. This has to do with the return of Greg Jennings, will he cut into Cobb’s touches, or if you’re thinking like me. Jennings return will help Cobb. This week against the Vikings I see a “Lambeau Leap” in Cobb’s future, along with 6 to 7 receptions for 90 yards.

“The Great Match-Up Favorites”

QB – Tony Romo

Lets face it, match-ups don’t get much sweeter now a days than the Eagles D. The stats show the Eagles to be a decent on paper, but anyone who has seen them play over the past few weeks knows better. Romo has thrown for over 300 yards in 4 out of his last 5 games, with two of those games going for over 400 yards. This week in a must win for the Cowboys, Romo lights it up, throwing for over 300 yards and has 2 TDs.

RB – Trent Richardson

This Sunday Richardson gets to face one of the worst run defenses in the league. The Raiders have given up the second most rushing TDs this season, and are allowing over 130 yards a game. Add in the fact that Richardson has been pretty solid over the last 4 weeks and has over 20 touches in all four games and everything points to another great week. Richardson rushes for over 100 yards and scores at least one TD.

WR – Dez Bryant

With my “Hook up Special of the Week” Dez Bryant is the beneficiary of Romo’s great game. Dez has been as solid a pick as you can have, scoring at least 20 points over the past two weeks. Also with Miles Austin not being 100% Bryant may see a few more targets come his way. In another solid performance, Dez has 7 to 8 receptions for 90 to 100 yards, and 1 TD.

“The Tempting Sleepers”

QB – Andy Dalton

Andy Dalton has been a very good option at quarterback over the past three weeks. Now he may not throw for a ton of yards, but the 2nd year Bengal has found the endzone quite often over that span. Helping Dalton this week  is the fact that the Chargers D has allowed 20 passing TDs this season. I see Dalton continuing his successful ways this Sunday, he throws for over 280 yards and has 2 TDs.

RB – Bennie Wells

In a triumphant return to the Cardinals line-up last week, Bennie Wells was a much needed lift for those suffering from all the starting RBs with injuries. Now he may not have had that many yards, but scoring twice was very promising to say the least. I see a second week of success for him this week against the Jets. He rushes for 80 to 90 yards and scores 1 TD.

Updated: Watch injury status

WR – Ryan Broyles

With the demotion of Titus Young, Broyles is starting to make some plays for the Lions offense. Broyles will be a good play as a WR3 or a flex player this week against the Colts. With a lot of the attention going to Calvin Johnson Broyles is becoming a nice option for Stafford. That will continue this week, Broyles has 6 to 7 receptions for 80 to 90 yards and 1 TD.

“Play At Your Own Peril”

QB – Josh Freeman

Now I normally shy away from writing about the same guy two weeks in a row, especially when it comes to the Peril section. Although this week I find it hard not to put Freeman here again. The Broncos have been very good against the pass most of the year. Also Freeman’s hot streak seems to be completely extinguished at this point. Play it safe and explore your options.

RB – Matt Forte

Forte is dinged at may be limited this week, Michael Bush is taking all his goal line opportunities making this recommended sit a smart and safe choice. Again this a is word to the wise pick, if you have no one else than hope for the best, but the match-up doesn’t look great.

WR – Larry Fitzgerald

It doesn’t take a genius to see that Fitz is having a really bad year. My words of caution are; even though the Cards are playing the Jets, don’t get too excited. I see the Cards running Bennie Wells more often than not, and continuing to be the horrible passing team that we are use to seeing.

Last Week’s Recap

Start’em “The Hits”

  • Cam Newton – Doesn’t get much better than that!!
  • Hakeem Nicks – A little light on the receptions and yards, but did have 1 TD.
  • Chad  Henne – Solid outing from a guy playing for a position next year.
  • Colin Kaepernick – With that solid performance Mr. Kaepernick solidified himself as the new main man in Frisco.

Sit’em “The Hits”

  • Josh Freeman – Looks like Freeman is starting to struggle again.
  • Saints RBs – This RB by committee stuff is enough to drive you nuts!!

Start’em “Just Short”

  • C.J Spiller – Had over 100 yards rushing, but couldn’t find the end zone.

Start’em “Bust”

  • Vick Ballard – I have determined that I hate Donald Brown!! not really Ballard just didn’t produce.
  • Michael Crabtree – That’s what I get for thinking he was starting to become a consistent WR option.
  • Marcel Reece – Had a decent amount of yards, but was kept out of the end zone.
  • Danario Alexander – Again also had a decent game, but no TDs.

Sit’em DNP

  • Percy Harvin – He was a waste of a pick, but I though he might play.
