Waiver Wire Pickups Week 10

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Waiver Wire Pickups

With Arizona, Green Bay, Cleveland and Washington all on a BYE this week, you may be in need of a great waiver wire pickup. At this time in the year you’re in one of three situations: 1. Gonna make the playoffs 2. Might make the playoffs or 3. You’re done -In which case Sundays feature more than one instalment of The Walking Dead.

Having solid players on your bench or grabbing that one guy that leads your team to the playoffs could make all the difference in whether or not you are hoisting that fantasy trophy at the end of the season or whether you are getting out the check book to cover your losses. So let’s get started on some guys that can fill in or provide depth for your team this week.

Quarterback

Carson Palmer – 50% owned – Palmer continues to get it done at the high end QB2 position. Palmer finished with around 30 fantasy points that involved 414 passing yards and 4 touchdowns. These numbers were a bit inflated against a bad passing defense (Tampa Bay) but the Ravens have nothing to boast about. Their pass defense is ranked 22nd in the NFL. Palmer should have another good week and with McFadden questionable, the Raiders could become a one dimensional offense very fast, which bodes well for Palmer, Moore, and DHB’s value going forward. In fact Plamer has had only one game in single digit fantasy points and all other games were above 15 fantasy points. Very good option as a back up or bye week play.

Ryan Fitzpatrick – 48% owned – If you can’t get your hands on Palmer this week, then another strong option would be Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. The Bills face the Patriots in week 10 and Fitzpatrick has been explosive against bad defenses. In week 4 Fitzpatrick scored 27 points against the Patriots. When this guy gets the opportunity to put the ball in the air he does not disappoint. Fitzpatrick is not an every week starter but with this great match up there are plenty of guys I would start him over and with Fantasy owners of Rodgers and RGIII looking for options this week both of these guys will provide a great bye week fill in.

Ryan Tannehill – 8% owned – Sorting through the garbage quarterbacks at the bottom of the league, just in case, you, like me, are always the last waiver priority from following the trends and looking for value from the waiver wire, I have found a decent play. Tannehill will face a very weak Titans pass defense and as long as he plays through his left knee injury (which he did last week) he will be a great play from the waiver wire. Tannehill has not been a TD monster but has had decent yardage games so far this year. It’s a bit more of a reach than most owners like to take but he has a good chance this week.

Running Back

Mark Ingram – 27% owned – Ingram stood out the most in the Monday Night game from the Saints backfield. Ingram made great plays despite the split workload with Chris Ivory and Pierre Thomas. He had 44 rushing yards and 23 receiving yards, and although he did not get the bulk of the work, expect the former Heisman trophy winner to make a great impact going forward.

Isaac Redman – 50% owned – Great performance from Redman last week and the Steelers face another team in the Chiefs that has not much left to play for. So after the Steelers jump up early, the garbage work and fantasy points should go to Redman as he works the clock to end the game. Redman ran very strong and made people notice him. His performance was overshadowed by Doug Martin’s which you can read about here, but none the less it was impressive for a guy you could very widely find available.

James Starks – 12% owned – Looks finally like James Starks has gotten back involved in the offense and the Packers look to return to the offense that dominated the league last year. And in that very offense Starks was involved a decent amount with 17 carries despite being listed as the back up to Alex Green. Starks value will come in his touchdowns and with the Packers scoring plenty of those Starks should see his coming soon. Look for Starks to be named the starter after the week 10 BYE.

Wide Receiver

T.Y. Hilton – 8% owned – Hilton may have claimed some more playing time after this weeks performance. Hilton showed amazing ability and with the way the Colts are playing, I want some of this action. Hilton is a great widely available option and has some really large upside. The Colts schedule sets up very well for Luck and his receivers. The unfortunate thing for fantasy scoring is that Luck likes to spread the ball around, but I would get on board with any of his options and Hilton just happens to be my favorite. Hilton led the team in targets last week with 11.

Jeremy Kerley- 47% owned – Don’t forget about this guy as he is coming off of a BYE week. The Jets face Seattle next week so the match up is not great but Kerley is the number one option and will get the most looks. Kerley has had only two games that were fantasy garbage this season, and the other games have been great for fantasy owners. For a guy who is not taken seriously by many fantasy owners, mainly because of the team he is on or his quarterback situation, Kerley has produced numbers and been a good option at WR3 for your fantasy team.

Laurent Robinson – 9% owned – Robinson lead the team in targets last week and stole a little of Cecil Shorts numbers last week. Robinson was brought in to be a producer and top option on the other side of the field as Justin Blackmon. Robinson may finally be back on the field for good this year and he is an option in deep leagues to get some production that could easily be WR3 numbers.

Deep Sleepers:

Danario Alexander – Chargers are in need of WR talent and Alexander stepped up in a big way Thursday Night against the Chiefs. He can easily be found as he is owned in 0% of leagues.

Ryan Broyles -Another solid performance after back-to-back touchdowns weeks. Broyles is the fourth WR in Detriot, but may be catching on with Stafford.

Brandon Stokley- Worth stashing on your bench in the event an injury occurs, the Broncos passing game is quickly becoming a familiar powerhouse with Peyton at the helm.

Tight Ends

Scott Chandler – 35% owned – Chandler had two touchdowns in the Bills last game against the Patriots and with the Pat’s using Gronk and Hernandez the Bills will look to use their own tight end effectively in the passing game. Chandler has not been the picture perfect fantasy producer that we had all hoped, but he has and will continue to be a better play than most tight ends in the league.

Brandon Myers – 22% owned – A great week 9 from Myers creates a small blimp on the fantasy radar. One interesting thing about Myers is he has had at least some sort of production each and every week. Those fantasy owners struggling with guys like Kyle Rudolph and Jermichael Finley, may find Myers a fantasy gem worth starting in relief. Don’t chase last week’s numbers but if you are looking for a guy who can give you something every week then Myers is the guy for you.

Defense/Special Teams

Miami – 58% owned – The Dolphins and their strong ability to stop the rushing attack face off against one of the worst teams in the NFL this week. The Titans will try to turn things around while the Dolphins will try to build on their young rising quarterback talent. The Dolphins have had a good number of sacks so they should be a good play this week.

Kicker

Greg Zuerlein – 35% owned – Greg “the Leg” Zuerlein returns from his BYE week to face the 49ers and will get plenty of field goal opportunities this week. Young GZ has a long range and with the lack of offensive production from the Rams defense Zuerlein’s chances just get better.
