Power Rankings Week 17

This is it…its been a long fruitful season, but now the top 12 NFL teams will contend for the Super Bowl. This year’s playoffs should prove to be very interesting.

We can only anticipate the thrills and excitement that are yet to come. It’s been a blast…happy postseason everyone!

With that…let’s take a look at the final Power Rankings of the 2012 NFL season.

 1. Denver Broncos

Record: 13-3 Rank Last Week: 2

They’re the number one team in the AFC and in football…the road to the AFC Championship goes through Denver! It would appear the NFL might be getting the Mile High experience this year.

2. New England Patriots

Record: 11-5 Rank Last Week: 4

Hopefully this year, New England can return to the Super Bowl and actually win the whole thing. There’s no New York Giants and Eli Manning to deal with this year.

3. Atlanta Falcons

Record: 13-3 Rank Last Week: 1

A solid season for Atlanta leaves much to improve on during this year’s postseason. Hopefully the Falcons can play better in the offseason than how they finished.

4. Seattle Seahawks

Record: 11-5 Rank Last Week: 5

This team could be the silent, deadly killer in the NFC playoffs. Pete Carroll and his crew are a bunch of sneaky… never mind…watch out for the Seahawks in the playoffs…they are bound to surprise.

5. Indianapolis Colts

Record: 11-5 Rank Last Week: 8

Chuck Pagano returns and delivers a huge last season win! This team is streaking towards another Lombardi Trophy…and with an unfamiliar face under center. Good ‘Luck’ in the playoffs Indy!

6. Washington Redskins

Record: 10-6 Rank Last Week: 7

The NFC East is theirs….as well as a playoff berth. The nation’s capitol has been dying for one of these for a long time coming.

7. Green Bay Packers

Record: 11-5 Rank Last Week: 3

The silver lining is at least the Packers could have redemption next week when they play Minnesota yet again…except this time at Lambeau Field…with all the chips on the table.

8. San Francisco 49ers

Record: 11-4-1 Rank Last Week: 9

They earned the bye week with a win and a Packers loss…the Gold Rush has halted for the moment in the West…but will certainly pick up again when the playoffs roll to town during divisional weekend.

9. Houston Texans

Record: 12-4 Rank Last Week: 6

A dominant season has seen a disappointing end…and a top spot left open for a hostile takeover…the best part is though, that the Texans will be hosting yet another postseason game they can surely win.

10. Cincinnati Bengals

Record: 10-6 Rank Last Week: 10

They made it into the playoffs…now they travel to Houston for round one…Andy Dalton has the biggest game of his career on the line…hopefully he can deliver a big W for the city of Cincy.

11. Minnesota Vikings

Record: 10-6 Rank Last Week: 11

A tough grind win helped earn the Vikes a playoff berth…who now get to relive this weekend when they travel to Green Bay for a first round postseason matchup …it’s deja vu all over again.

12. Chicago Bears

Record: 10-6 Rank Last Week: 13

At least the Bears won their matchup this weekend…but needed more than just a win to get into the playoffs…unfortunately this could be the last time we see Lovie Smith calling the shots in Chicago.

13. Baltimore Ravens

Record: 10-6 Rank Last Week: 12

John Harbaugh’s squad has dwindled into oblivion the past few weeks and now needs to wake up in time to host the Colts in a playoff showdown next weekend.

14. New York Giants

Record: 9-7 Rank Last Week: 15

They needed a lot of help to even have a shot to repeat as Super Bowl Champs, but a win wasn’t enough for the G-Men…Eli now has the privilege of cheering on his brother in the playoffs.

15. Carolina Panthers

Record: 7-9 Rank Last Week: 16

This team is growing as a unit and Cam Newton seems to be maturing as an NFL quarterback….justice lives in Carolina…soon enough this city will experience the playoffs yet again.

16. Pittsburgh Steelers

Record: 8-8 Rank Last Week: 20

It’s odd for Pittsburgh to be sitting this year’s postseason out…then again they did get a feature this year in The Dark Knight Rises.

17. San Diego Chargers

Record: 7-9 Rank Last Week: 21

This city has seen better days…maybe Norv Turner has called his last play in San Diego…then again…who knows.

18. Dallas Cowboys

Record: 8-8 Rank Last Week: 14

Yet again Tony Romo can’t deliver the city of Dallas…and owner Jerry Jones, a postseason berth. The Boys might want to think about investing in someone who can actually get the job done…might not be a bad idea.

19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Record: 7-9 Rank Last Week: 24

This band of pirates rallied for a great season finale…too bad this season wasn’t anything like their performance on Sunday…things could have been different.

20. New Orleans Saints

Record: 7-9 Rank Last Week: 17

Sean Payton is set for next year…New Orleans is already looking forward to the 2013 season.

21. Miami Dolphins

Record: 7-9 Rank Last Week: 18

At least the Dolphins have a team that they can count on for the future…more to come from this franchise in the future.

22. St. Louis Rams

Record: 7-8-1 Rank Last Week: 19

At least Jeff Fischer will be around long enough to take this team to greater heights…heck, they’ve achieved more this season than anyone anticipated.

23. Buffalo Bills

Record: 6-10 Rank Last Week: 27

A good win to end the season was just the way the city of Buffalo wanted to go out this season…next year…the Bills will work on getting more W’s.

24. Tennessee Titans

Record: 6-10 Rank Last Week: 25

Going from a stomping to a romping was just what Tennessee needed to finish out the season strong…it will be interesting to see what this team does come next season.

25. Cleveland Browns

Record: 5-11 Rank Last Week: 22

The future of this franchise is in good hands…now the health of those players is the only thing to worry about.

26. Arizona Cardinals

Record: 5-11 Rank Last Week: 23

This team is still trying to forget the mid-season slide they suffered this season…maybe next year the tables will turn for this team looking to return to the Kurt Warner days.

27. New York Jets

Record: 6-10 Rank Last Week: 26

Well it appears that Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow have seen their final days in New York…we can only anticipate who will take over this aching franchise.

28. Oakland Raiders

Record: 4-12 Rank Last Week: 28

The only thing this team should be worried about is the 2013 NFL Draft.

29. Philadelphia Eagles

Record: 4-12 Rank Last Week: 29

Andy Reid is out…what’s next for the city where the Liberty Bell rings?

30. Detroit Lions

Record: 4-12 Rank Last Week: 30

It was an unpredictable year for the Lions…at least Calvin Johnson broke a few records along the way.

31. Kansas City Chiefs

Record: 2-14 Rank Last Week: 31

Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs for earning the first pick in the 2013 NFL Draft…hopefully it was all worth it.

32. Jacksonville Jaguars

Record: 2-14 Rank Last Week: 32

We’re all thinking it…this franchise needs a serious revamping. There’s always next year right?
