Start’em Sit’em Week 15

What are we wanting for? It’s time to prove you are the fantasy football champ of 2012, the top dog, the best of the best, you have the goods to advance so lets get to it! The following is Gridiron Experts week 15′s Start’em Sit’em players of the week.

“The Don’t Over Think’em Starters”

QB – Tony Romo

For those of you that have Tony Romo on your fantasy roster, don’t let this weeks match-up scare you. If there is one Cowboy that has stepped up time after time this season its Romo.

Given what he has had to work with I would argue that Romo has had a great year. This will be a huge week for Romo and the Cowboys, and although the Steelers are a very good team statistically, they have been slumping as far as fantasy Defenses go.

Romo leads the Cowboys to victory and throws for 290 yards and scores 2 passing touchdowns.

RB – Stevan Ridley

Most of the year I have advised you to not play almost any RB against the 49er Defense. The major difference this week is Tom Brady is playing QB. The Patriots will need to use a balanced attack to keep the 49er’s guessing, Ridley will get his carries and despite the tough match-up is a better fantasy starter than most. Ridley rushes for at least 80 yards and gets 1 TD.

WR – Reggie Wayne

I have been very impressed with how well Wayne has played this year, the old vet still has the moves and is in sync with his rookie QB. With the playoffs in their reach the Colts will have to keep pace with a very good Texans team.  I see that connection shinning again this week.  In a step up game for Wayne, he gets 6 to 7 receptions for 80 yards and 1 TD

“The Great Match-Up Favorites”

QB – Matthew Stafford

The Lions have been a very hard team to figure out for most of the season.  They have definitely struggled more on offense than most of us thought they would. Over the past month or so the Lions have started to turn things around. What will help keep that going this week is a trip to the dessert to face the woeful Cardinals. -Another team that has been a major disappointment.

Stafford has one of his best games of the year, he throws for over 300 yards and scores at least 2 TDs.

RB – Darren McFadden

If there was one RB that I had high hopes for this season, it was Darren McFadden, but as usual he has been hurt for a good portion of the season. Well now that he seems to be healthy, I’m hoping RunDMC can provide some late season magic for all the fantasy owners he burned. This week he faces a Chiefs team that has had more than its share of problems this season. I know they have shown a lot of pride over the last couple of weeks, but that won’t help them against a healthy McFadden.

Against one of the worst rushing D’s in the league McFadden is Fantasy Playoff Gold, he rushes for over 100 yards and scores at least 1 TD.

WR – Steve Smith

Another player that is turning out to be late season gold is Steve Smith. It’s no big shock that it coincides with the improved play of Cam Newton. This week Smith gets to face a fairly giving Chargers D, who have given up a hefty 24 TDs through the air so far this season. With Cam’s much improved play I see Smith having big game.  Smith racks up 6 to 7 catches for 90 yards and scores 1 TD.

“The Tempting Sleepers”

QB – Colin Kapernick

This may seem like a risky pick given how well the Patriots played against the Texans last week.  Yet, what leads me to believe Kapernick will succeed where Schaub failed is his incredible athletic ability. When his WRs aren’t open Kapernick will be able to run and create some serious chaos for the Patriot D.

In a performance very similar to what he did to the Bears. Kapernick has a great game, he throws for 250 yards, and scores 2 TDs, 1 rushing and 1 passing.

RB – David Wilson

Anyone who is in need of a good RB2 or flex player for this week should seriously look at the Giants first round rookie David Wilson. With the injury to Ahmad Bradshaw, Wilson will make a great playoff replacement player. What will also add to his success is the fact he is playing the Atlanta Falcons, a team that hasn’t exactly been known as a shut down run stopper. Even with the great season the Falcons have had, they still have some weaknesses, and their rushing Defense could be exposed.

The Falcons give up over 125 yards a game, and have given up the 4th most TDs in the NFL on the ground.  Playing the roll of fill in, Wilson starts and soars, he rushes for 90 yards and scores 1 TD.

WR – Lance Moore

It’s hard to find a more tempting sleeper WR than Lance Moore. He plays for one of the most high powered offenses in the league, and also gets to face on of the worst secondaries in the league, in the Bucs.  I know the Saints have a lot of options when it comes to the passing game, but if you need a WR3 or flex player Moore is a great option. Behind Colston and Graham, Moore is the other option that Brees is always looking for. Moore will get some more vs the Bucs, he has 5 to 6 receptions for 80 to 90 yards and scores 1 TD.

“Play At Your Own Peril”

QB – Eli Manning

On the flip side of my pick of David Wilson, lies my cautionary “Sit” of of Eli Manning. The Falcons are tied for second in the league for the fewest TDs given up through the air. Eli may pass for a decent amount of yards but I don’t see a 2 to 3 TD game for him. Somewhere around a 260 yard game with maybe 1 TD would be all I see Eli getting.

RB – Matt Forte

The Bears are in complete free fall mode at this point and the only player worth starting is Brandon Marshall. Their O line is incapable of doing anything well, and at any given moment Cutler may get snapped in 2. I know most of you can’t or won’t bench Forte, but I wouldn’t expect much from him in a major beat down form the Pack this Sunday.

WR – Dez Bryant

Even with the great turn around Bryant has had from his horrendous start to season, the injury to his had has to be a giant red flag for those of you that own him.  Unless he is super human I can’t see him having any where near the numbers he has been putting up over the past few weeks.  I see Bryant as a decoy to keep the Steelers off the other Cowboys WR and Witten.

Week 14 Recap

Start’em “The Hits”

  • Cam Newton – He has found his MOJO again and looks like he is back on track.
  • DeMarco Murray – Was a little short on the yards but did manage to find the end zone.
  • Pierre Garcon- Garcon has easily become RG3′s #1 receiver.
  • Ben Rothlisberger – His return was a much needed lift for the Steelers.
  • Steven Jackson – Also a little light on the yards but still scored a TD.

Sit’em “The Hits”

  • Bryce Brown – How was that for one extreme to another.

Start’em “Just Short”

  • Josh Freeman – He did score 2 TDs but only threw for 189 yards
  • Josh Gordon – For any of you Browns fans, Gordon looks to be a solid WR for the future.

Start’em “Bust”

  • Ahmad Bradshaw – It looks like his injuries have finally caught up with him.
  • Torrey Smith – You think I would have learned by now. This years “Mr. Inconsistent”

Sit’em “Bust”

  • Tom Brady – Yeah he broke my heart, only in the wrong way. Really 4 TDs!! Such an over achiever.
  • Charger WR – That Alexander guy is pretty good.  Who thought the Steelers would play that bad on D.
