Start’em Sit’em Week 16

All the work that you have put into the season reaches its final chapter this weekend. Fantasy Football fans are losing their minds over line-up decisions, and I don’t blame you. All season long Gridiron Experts has given you pretty solid advice when it comes to who we feel is a good start or sit, and we’re hoping to end the season on a high note. Let’s check out our Week 16 Start’em Sit’em picks. Also don’t forget to compare our Fantasy Player Rankings for more info.

“The Don’t Over Think’em Starters”

QB – Ben Roethlisberger

The Steelers are in a must win game this weekend. Now they don’t exactly have an easy match up in playing the Bengals, but if anyone can step up when needed, its “Big Ben.” Yes I know he threw the pick that cost them the game last week, but if it wasn’t for him, they wouldn’t have even been in the game to begin with. With the season on the line, Big Ben has a huge game; he throws for 280 yards, and  at least 2 TDs.

RB – Marshawn Lynch

The thought of benching Lynch is remote at best, but there is a deep concern about starting him against the 49ers. I have avoided recommending any running back against the San Francisco 49ers defense, yet this is the fantasy football Finals, and Lynch and the Seahawks are hosting a game of the week at home. Lynch had 100 yards the last time they played and this week should do  the same, if not more. This time he goes for 100 yards and 1 TD.

WR – Anquan Boldin

Coming off a huge let down last week, Boldin should return in a big way.  The Giants have not been very good against the pass for much of the season, and I like this game for him to step up.  Both teams are in need of a win, but I see the Ravens coming out on top at home. Both Flacco and Boldin bounce back Sunday: Boldin has 5 to 6 receptions for 80 to 90 yards, and has 1 TD.

“The Great Match-Up Favorites”

QB – Tony Romo

For those of you that don’t have one of the elite QBs, but have Tony Romo,  you couldn’t have picked a better week to have him. Romo is playing some really good football right now. What’s different now than from the beginning of the season is he is making fewer mistakes. Over his last 7 games he has 13 TDs and only 3 INTs. This week he faces the Saints, one of the worst secondaries in football. Romo should have a huge game, throwing for over 300 yards and at least 2 TDs.

RB – Reggie Bush

If you’re looking for a solid #2 RB this week or a great flex player, then Reggie Bush is a great option.  The Bills have been a huge disappointment on D this year to say the least. They have given up a league high 22 TDs against the run. This week on the road in Miami I see them giving up a few more. Bush rushes for 90 to 100 yards and scores at least 1 TD.

WR – Randall Cobb

One thing the Packers do very well is beat the teams that they should, and this week against the Titans is one of those weeks.  The Packers are still playing for the #2 seed in the NFC, so I don’t see any let down.  The Titans also have given up the third most TDs through the air, which Rodgers and Co. should take full advantage of. Cobb has a great game, and has 6 to 7 receptions for 90 yards, and 1 TD.

“The Tempting Sleepers”

QB – Andrew Luck

Most of you probably didn’t draft Luck as your number 1 QB, but there have been many weeks this year where he has performed as if you did. I feel this week against the Chiefs is another one of those weeks. Luck and the Colts are also playing for a playoff spot, so again I don’t see a drop off in his production. In what should be another solid game for the rookie, he throws for at least 275 yards and scores 2 TDs.

RB – Knowshon Moreno

Here’s a guy that wasn’t even active for most of the season. Yet here we are in week 16 and Knowshon is a solid option to start for your Finals week. In his 4 starts he is averaging close to 100 yards a game, and easily has at least 20+ carries in all of them. Now sure Manning has a lot to do with that, but that’s one of the things that makes him such a great option. This week while the Browns are worried about Manning, Moreno goes off. He rushes for 100 yards, and has at least 1 TD.

WR – Danny Amendola

With my final sleeper pick of the week, I give you Danny Amendola.  Again not a guy that is your #1 WR, or at least I hope not, but a very good WR2 or flex player this week.  Amendola  has the benefit of playing the very giving Tampa Bay Bucs.  The Bucs have given up the most yards through the air and the second most TDs.  Amendola is fantasy gold this week, he has 6 to 7 receptions for 90 to 100 yards, and scores 1 TD.

“Play At Your Own Peril”

QB – Andy Dalton

Andy Dalton has a brutal history against the Steelers. In three career starts, Dalton has completed under 49% of his passes for only 137 yards per game, with four touchdowns and three interceptions. Also, Cecil Shorts has been huge, but he could put up disappointing numbers this week.

RB – LeSean McCoy

I’m guessing that if you own McCoy, you’re probably not about to bench him. This is once again a word to the wise, but be careful in starting him this week. The Redskins are real good against the run, and the Eagles may be cautious with their star RB coming off a concussion.

WR – Michael Crabtree

Yes, I know the 49ers just got done beating the Patriots in New England, but the Seahawks at home are really tough. Except for the Patriots, no team has thrown for over 250 yards against them at home this year, and the last 3 teams have not thrown for over 115 yards.  My recommendation would be if you have someone else that’s decent, Play Them!!

Last Week Recap

Start’em “The Hits”

  • Tony Romo – Rock solid again and no mistakes, 341 yards and 2 TDs.
  • Steve Smith – Nice to see he still has it, 6 catches for 57 yards and 1 TD.
  • Colin Kaepernick – Another solid rookie outing, 221 yards passing and YES 4 TDs.
  • Lance Moore – A little light on the yards, but found his way into the end zone.

Sit’em “The Hits”

  • Eli Manning – Had a rough game like I thought he would, but man that was really bad!
  • Matt Forte – The Bears just don’t have any answers on how to beat the Pack.

Start’em “Just Short”

  • Darren McFadden – Had a huge day yardage wise, going for 110, but didn’t score.

Start’em “Bust”

  • Stevan Ridley – Because they were playing from behind, he never really got into the game.
  • Reggie Wayne – Was a non factor for some strange reason, but it happens!
  • David Wilson – I thought he would step up in Bradshaw’s absence, but was big no show.
  • Matthew Stafford – I should have known the Cards wouldn’t play that bad 2 weeks in a row

Sit’em “Bust”

  • Dez Bryant – Truly becoming a star, and stepped up pretty big for having a broken finger.
