15 Super Bowl Player Prop Bet Picks

The Super Bowl is the one time of year that being a degenerate gambler is actually accepted by modern society. Gridiron Experts is a fantasy football site first and foremost, but we do love the occasional Prop Bet.

Mike Rodriguez and Jody Smith have picked 15 of their favorite Super Bowl player prop bets for you to look over. The following are individual achievement bets, if you’re looking for some crazy outrageous Super Bowl bets I suggest checking out 10 Ridiculous Super Bowl Prop Bets for a laugh. You can also see all of all our experts picks up for this Sunday’s Super Bowl winner.

1. Joe Flacco Passing Touchdown passes (Over/Under: 1.5)

Jody Smith: Over -Flacco has 2+ touchdown passes in each full game he’s played since Jim Caldwell took over play-calling.
Mike Rodriguez: Over- Probably one of the best bets this weekend, Joe Flacco has proven that he can put the team on his back and pull out huge victories for the Ravens

2. Anquan Boldin receiving yards (Over/Under 69.5 Yards)

Jody Smith: Over -Boldin has also has been resurgent under Caldwell. Averaging 89.4 receiving yards/game in those five full contests.
Mike Rodriguez: Under - Jody and I disagree on this one. I predominantly see Torrey Smith being the bigger target this Super Bowl Sunday

3. Ray Rice receptions (Over/Under 3.5)

Jody Smith: Under -Has been up and down lately as a receiver and has only registered four receptions in the past four games.
Mike Rodriguez: Over- Ray Rice is one of the best check down receivers in the game, His ability to pick up decent yardage on first and second down will be a valuable asset for Joe Flacco.

4. Total Rushing Yards – Bernard Pierce (Over/Under 32.5)

Jody Smith: Over -Pierce has averaged 76.2 rushing yards per game over the past five weeks and the Forty Niners are likely to attempt a ground n’ pound attack against a Ravens’ defense that has been sagging lately.
Mike Rodriguez: Under-The emergence of Bernard Pierce has fantasy owners worried about the future of Rice. Yet, while Pierce offers an excellent smash-mouth change of pace for the Ravens, 33 yards is unlikely in my opinion.

5. Colin Kaepernick rushing attempts (Over/Under 7)

Jody Smith: Under -You have to think Baltimore will be prepared for him and Kaepernick has only exceeded seven rushes attempts once in the past six games.
Mike Rodriguez: Under -The 49ers “Option Read” has burned the Falcons and Packers throughout this 49ers playoff run. While I too see great opportunity to stretch the field with play-action passes in this game, I think Kaepernick keeps his rushing attempts, handoffs and passes out of this popular formation somewhat even.

6. Frank Gore rushing yards (Over/Under 82.5)

Jody Smith: Over -Baltimore’s giving up 128.3 rushing yards per game in the playoffs and the Niners will give Gore a healthy dose of carries.
Mike Rodriguez: Over-Another safe bet for sports junkies this weekend. All it takes is one long run to help put him over the 83 yard target. I’m predicting Frank Gore sees 22 carries, at 4 yards per carry this plateau should be easily met.

7. 49ers Aldon Smith sack total (Over/Under 1)

Jody Smith: Under -Smith hasn’t registered a sack since Week 14 and Justin Smith’s injury will continue to hamper his ability to get inside. At worst, this looks like a push, but the over is highly unlikely.
Mike Rodriguez: Over-Something has got to give. Aldon Smith is going to be asked to do a lot in this game, his pressure off the edge is something the 49ers nation is counting on. I think he gets that one sack.

8.Player to score the first TD in the game?

Frank Gore (SF) RB 6/1
Ray Rice (BAL) RB 6/1
Michael Crabtree (SF) WR 8/1
Anquan Boldin (BAL) WR 17/2
Colin Kaepernick (SF) QB 17/2
Torrey Smith (BAL) WR 17/2
Vernon Davis (SF) TE 9/1
Dennis Pitta (BAL) TE 12/1
Randy Moss (SF) WR 14/1
Delanie Walker (SF) TE 20/1
Jacoby Jones (BAL) WR 22/1
Bernard Pierce (BAL) RB 25/1
Ed Dickson (BAL) TE 28/1
Vonta Leach (BAL) FB28/1
Anthony Dixon (SF) RB 33/1
Joe Flacco (BAL) QB 33/1
Ted Ginn Jr. (SF) WR 35/1
Ed Reed (BAL) FS40/1
Ray Lewis (BAL) LB50/1

Jody Smith: Frank Gore -Generally best to avoid these long-shot bets. If you must throw a bet down, go with Frank Gore, who’s been red-hot and has scored in three straight. For a fun long-shot, go with Jacoby Jones and hope for a return score an huge pay-out.
Mike Rodriguez: Michael Crabtree-These Odds have changed quite a bit throughout the week, but I’ve made a wager for each team: I picked Michael Crabtree and Torrey Smith. For a long shot with great odds, Ed Dickson at 28 to 1 is not a bad sleeper play.

9. Total Passing Yards – Colin Kaepernick (SF) (Over/Under 233.5 Yards)

Jody Smith: Over -Over the past three games, Baltimore is giving up 287 yards through the air. Meanwhile Kaepernick is throwing for 257 per contest in that time. That comes to an expectation of 272 yards.
Mike Rodriguez: Over-Like I had mentioned earlier, I believe that there will be a great opportunity out of the Option Read formation to fake the handoff to Gore/James and stretch the field to Randy Moss or Crabtree. With so much emphasis on whether or not Kaepernick hands it off or runs himself, I believe the defense will fall victim to the play action passes

10. Total TD Passes – Colin Kaepernick (SF) (Over/ Under 1.5)

Jody Smith: Over -Not a strong play here, but if we’re expecting a rather high scoring, pass-happy game, the play would be over.
Mike Rodriguez: Over-Two touchdowns by Kaepernick is not a problem, whether they are both passing touchdowns is a different story. I think he racks up exactly two passing scores.

11. Will Ed Reed (BAL) Intercept a Pass (Yes+235) (No-325)

Jody Smith: Yes -Hedge this with one of the safer bets that we’ve discussed, but Reed always seems to make an impact on the big stage.
Mike Rodriguez: Yes -Not crazy about this one, but I’m betting “Yes”. Reed with be spying a lot in this contest.

12. Total Receptions – LaMichael James (SF) (Over/Under 1)

Jody Smith: Under -This looks like a push. James has only exceeded a single catch once all season.
Mike Rodriguez: Over-LaMichael James, product of Chip Kelly’s Oregon Ducks, likes to use his running backs all over the field. James has blazing speed and great hands, the odds of him making one simple catch seems like an easy bet.

 13. Who will throw more TD Passes in the game? (Flacco -140, Kaepernick +110)

Jody Smith: Flacco- Joe Flacco is highly unlikely to run one in, unlike Kaepernick. As stated, Flacco has 2+ TD tosses in each of the past six full game he’s played in.
Mike Rodriguez: Flacco- I do think Kaepernick scores multiple times, but I believe Joe Flacco has more passing touchdowns Sunday.

14. “Who will have more Receiving Yards in the game?

Dennis Pitta (BAL) TE +32½ (-105) or
Michael Crabtree (SF) WR -32½ (-125)

Jody Smith: Pitta -Pitta has a good chance of accumulating 50+ yards in this game, matched up with smaller conrerbacks in the slot. That being said, you’re banking on Crabtree to have a pretty big game (which he’s more than capable of) to overcome that 32 1/2 yards. Not a strong bet, so best avoided.
Mike Rodriguez: Pitta-I think both targets have an excellent game, yet with 32 yards given to Pitta, I feel he has a better shot at winning this bet

15 Total Receptions – Randy Moss (SF) (Over/Under 2)

Jody Smith: Over -Not a strong bet, be Moss will spend more time on the left lined up with Cary Williams. Moss won’t get a ton of targets but he has garnered 2+ receptions in each of San Fran’s last seven games.
Mike Rodriguez: Over-Despite what Randy Moss says, this could be his last season in the NFL. After taking a complete year off from the game, one of the league’s best wide receivers finds himself playing in the biggest game of the year. I find it hard to believe that the 49ers coaching staff doesn’t give him every opportunity to stretch the field or make at least two catches.
