Fantasy Football Playoff WR Rankings (Championship Game Round)
Here are my fantasy wide receiver rankings for the Championship Game Round of the playoffs:
1. Demaryius Thomas, Denver Broncos (vs. NE)
With remarkably consistent numbers compared to last season (94/1,434/10), Thomas had 92 catches for 1,430 yards and 14 touchdowns during this year’s regular season. Counting last week’s win over the Chargers, Thomas has scored in each of his past three games and has a total of 22 receptions for 290 yards and four touchdowns during that stretch.
2. Eric Decker, Denver Broncos (vs. NE)
Although Decker set career highs of 85 receptions for 1,288 yards during the regular season, he had only two catches for 32 yards on Sunday. Compared to DT, Decker has been much streakier this season.
As an example, he had only one reception for five yards against the Patriots in Week 12, but he followed that up with 174 yards and a club-record four touchdowns. In the final five regular-season games, Decker had three 100-yard games and eight touchdowns.
- Poll: What will be the Super Bowl XLVIII matchup?
3. Julian Edelman, New England Patriots (at DEN)
Beginning with their regular-season matchup, Edelman has seven consecutive games with at least six receptions and 64 yards. In those seven games, Edelman has a total of 59 catches for 640 yards and four touchdowns, which includes a line of 9/110/2 against the Broncos to begin that seven-game run.
4. Michael Crabtree, San Francisco 49ers (at SEA)
Even though Crabtree is a more talented receiver, it wouldn’t surprise me if Anquan Boldin has a more productive day on Sunday similar to what happened against the Panthers. As Carolina focused on taking Crabtree out of the game as much as possible, Boldin led the team in receiving.
If you play on daily fantasy football leagues, which use a salary-cap format, I’d go with the less expensive of the two options if you were debating between them.
* DraftKings: Play Daily Fantasy Football for Sunday’s games and get a 100-percent bonus (up to $600) on your initial deposit.
5. Anquan Boldin, San Francisco 49ers (at SEA)
Boldin had eight receptions for 136 yards and was targeted a team-high 12 times against the Panthers. Boldin now has 100-plus yards in two of his past three games and double-digit fantasy points in three of his past four games.
6. Wes Welker, Denver Broncos (vs. NE)
Returning from his concussion, Welker had six catches for 38 yards and a touchdown. The first time around against his former team, Welker had four catches for 31 yards.
7. Danny Amendola, New England Patriots (at DEN)
Edelman is clearly the team’s No. 1 wide receiver from a fantasy perspective, but it’s likely that the Patriots throw the ball more often than they have recently. Brady has averaged 25 pass attempts over his past three games, but he had 50 pass attempts the first time these two teams met this season.
8. Golden Tate, Seattle Seahawks (vs. SF)
Tate set career highs this season with 64 receptions for 898 yards, but he is coming off a one-catch performance against the Saints. That said, Russell Wilson threw for a career-low 103 yards in the team’s win over the Saints.
9. Doug Baldwin, Seattle Seahawks (vs. SF)
Baldwin had just two catches for 30 yards, but then again, the team’s passing offense left a lot to be desired on Saturday. In his two games against the 49ers this season, Baldwin had four catches for 87 yards.
10. Percy Harvin, Seattle Seahawks (vs. SF)
For the second time this season, Harvin returned to the field after a long absence. This time, however, he left with a concussion so it’s unclear whether he will be ready for Sunday’s game. At this point, it’s hard to trust that he will stay healthy for a full game if he is able to go.
The next five fantasy wide receivers:
11. Kenbrell Thompkins, New England Patriots (at DEN)
12. Quinton Patton, San Francisco 49ers (at SEA)
13. Andre Caldwell, Denver Broncos (vs. NE)
14. Jermaine Kearse, Seattle Seahawks (vs. SF)
15. Aaron Dobson, New England Patriots (at DEN)
More Positions (Championship Game Round): Running Backs – Wide Receivers – Tight Ends
