Week 7 NFL Picks Against the Spread (ATS): Trifone

Here are my Week 7 picks against the spread:

New York Jets +10 over New England Patriots (5 units)

As bad as the Jets have been, they were a pick-six in the final seconds away from covering 7.5 points against Denver this past weekend. I know the Patriots are coming off back-to-back solid wins, but I still don’t buy them as a legitimate Super Bowl contender, like Denver clearly is. In a division-rivalry game, I’ll take the double-digit ‘dog.

Washington Redskins -5 over Tennessee Titans (3 units)

I don’t like taking Washington in general, let alone taking them giving points. However, they’ve had a rough schedule of late, playing the Eagles, Giants, Seahawks, and Cardinals in succession the last four weeks. The last time they played a weak team with a bad defense, they were destroying the Jaguars 41-10. The Titans defense is slightly better (25th in the league in overall defense vs. the Jags at 30th), and I think the Redskins are tired of getting kicked around. I like Kirk Cousins to get his first win of the season as a starter and think they’ll do so by a touchdown or more.

New Orleans Saints +3 over Detroit Lions (4 units)

The Saints haven’t been good on the road, but crazily enough they are only a game out of first. While I don’t think the Saints are as good as most people thought they would be coming into the season, they still do have a lot of talent on the team, and I’m going to take Sean Payton and Drew Brees to find a way to win this one on the road.

Cleveland Browns -6 over Jacksonville Jaguars (4 units)

Don’t look now, but the Cleveland Browns have a winning record going into Week 7. Brian Hoyer has a rating of a shade under 100 on the year, and Ben Tate and Isaiah Crowell provide a formidable rushing attack. The Browns are not used to being favorites, but they responded well this past week as a favorite against the Steelers. This week, they’ll face the lowly Jaguars, and I think they’ll carry the momentum to an easy win.
