Huge! NFL Boycott or Colin Kaepernick Rally? Take a Knee Spike Lee (Videos)
8-23-17
This Facebook post has started one hellofa mess:
Hello, I’m a long time loyal fan. I urgently wanted to tell you before the media gets to it but I work at the NFL Network in Culver City and they are planning a big NFL supported Anti Trump protest rally in the name of Colin Kaepernick (who is said to be there in person leading the protest). They sent emails to all of the employees warning of police surveillance leading up to the event at 5 pm. I am a Trump supporter and the NFL is now making it unsafe for me to go to work tomorrow. I wonder if #ANTIFA will be there. We are positioned right next door to Los Angeles’ largest #muslim mosque with admitted radicals who attend. Send your team over to the NFL Network tomorrow to confront Colin Kaepernick and the NFL’s planned riot against Trump!

“This situation really shines a light on how much the NFL really cares about its Black athletes. It’s pretty much: Play for us, entertain us, make us money, and shut up,” the petition states in part.
Many believe he’s been blackballed by coaches and owners alike for his public stance on social issues. Other notable players including Richard Sherman, Michael Bennett, and Malcolm Jenkins have spoken on Kaepernick’s situation.
Will it hit the fan?
The NAACP’s Atlanta chapter has called for a boycott of the NFL until Colin Kaepernick is signed to a team.
Spike Lee denies promoting Colin Kaepernick rally
Spike Lee says “it wasn’t me” who tweeted news about organizing a rally at NFL headquarters in New York to support former Colin Kaepernick’s bid to return to the NFL.
Hours after a post appeared on Lee’s Twitter feed, the noted film director and writer tried to set the record straight.
Given the blatant misspelling of Kaepernick’s name, perhaps we should have known it wasn’t Lee’s work.
Despite rumors to the contrary, Kaepernick reportedly hasn’t come close to getting a chance to return to the NFL, which certainly seems directly related to his decision to protest the national anthem last season.
Even though starting quarterbacks Joe Flacco of the Ravens and Ryan Tannehill of the Dolphins both suffered injuries, neither team reached out to Kaepernick. This continued a trend of more than 20 other quarterbacks who have signed free-agent deals since the controversial Kaepernick became a free agent in March. The Dolphins’ decision to bring Jay Cutler out of retirement instead of pursuing Kaepernick makes sense — he worked under Miami coach Adam Gase in Chicago, plus Kaepernick’s decision to defend late Cuban dictator Fidel Castro didn’t go over well in Miami.
For his part, Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti admitted that Kaepernick’s on-field performance wasn’t the only factor that went into his team’s decision thus far not to sign him.
“We’re sensitive to it, we’re monitoring it, and we’re trying to figure out what’s the right tact,” Bisciotti said recently. “So pray for us.”
The Ravens then signed quarterback David Olson from the arena league before waiving him three days later to sign Josh Woodrum, another no-name signal-caller.

Thousands Rally Around Kaepernick With Pledge to Boycott NFL Season
No contract? No problem. A new petition from Change.org, #NoKaepernickNoNFL, asks fans to boycott the NFL if Colin Kaepernick doesn’t play this season.
The NFL preseason is underway and Kaepernick remains without a job but some fans are still rooting for the former 49ers quarterback.
The name that used to fill up stadiums is now being used to fill a petition calling for the boycott of the National Football League.
The petition is a call to inaction: no watching any NFL games, no posting about games or teams on social media, no attending games, and no buying any NFL merchandise until Kaepernick is signed to an NFL team.
The petition emphasizes the racial divide which exists within the NFL given that 70 percent of players in the league are African-American. It also asks both the commissioner and owners to stand in solidarity with Kaepernick as he continues to champion various causes.

The hashtag, #NoKaepernickNoNFL, ignited a conversation centered around systemic #racism which has taken over the twitter world and caught the attention of some other big names.
The petition has set its goal at 150,000 and has already amassed over 90,000 signatures. Once the petition hits 100,000 signatures it will be delivered to NFL commissioner Roger Goddell and all 32 NFL team owners.
Kaepernick’s NFL career has been under the microscope ever since he took a knee during the national anthem in a 2016 preseason game. Many people felt it was inappropriate for Kaepernick to kneel as the anthem played while others felt he was justified in doing so after he explained why he did it.
It was Kaepernick’s way of protesting the oppression of marginalized communities and the killing of unarmed black people.

Despite boasting impressive performance numbers Kaepernick has been unable to land a spot on an NFL roster.
In a recent interview Jenkins called teams that wouldn’t sign Kaepernick “cowards.” Richard Sherman also had this to say, “It’s not about football or color…It’s about, ‘Boy, stay in your place.’”
The former Super Bowl starter may be having trouble finding work on the field but it hasn’t stopped him from doing work off the field. In 2016, Kaepernick pledged to donate $1 million to different organizations working in oppressed communities. And he has made good on his promise donating $100,000 for 10 months to 10 different organizations.

Spike Lee Announces Rally For Colin Kaepernick At NFL Headquarters…. Or Did He?
Colin Kaepernick remains without a team, but a rally has been planned for the quarterback at NFL headquarters later this month.
Filmmaker Spike Lee, who has met with Kaepernick during the offseason, tweeted out the image of the “United We Stand Rally for Colin Kaepernick,” which is scheduled for Aug. 23 at 5 p.m. at the NFL offices on Park Avenue in New York City.
Kaepernick has dominated the talk of the NFL offseason. Last season, he protested the national anthem as a stance against the mistreatment of minorities. “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” Kaepernick told NFL Media in the news-breaking story last summer. “To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”
In March, on the cusp of becoming a free agent, Kaepernick’s camp made the preemptive announcement that he would stand during the national anthem in 2017. “He no longer wants his method of protest to detract from the positive change he believes has been created,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.
Kaepernick has continued with his social activism sending food and water to fight the famine in Somalia and hosting a “Know Your Rights” camp. Even without a team, his popularity rates with the stars of the NFL as his jersey remains on the list of top sellers.
The Seattle Seahawks brought Kaepernick in for a visit, but never signed him. That seems to be the closest the former Super Bowl starter for the San Francisco 49ers has come to rejoining a team.
Why hasn’t he been signed while other quarterbacks with less credentials have been picked up? That’s the top opinion-making, attention-generating question on the market. The thoughts that have been expressed range from Kaepernick needing to cut his hair (which was later apologized for) to being blackballed to Kaepernick’s skill set no longer fitting in the NFL, to the quarterback needing to talk if he wants to play. Fan anger is another reason that has been cited and President Donald Trump offered his own take.
There is no shortage of the ongoing Kaepernick discussion. Even before the rally announcement his name continued to be discussed in the media during the last 24 hours. In light of the Miami Dolphins signing Jay Cutler, hosts on ESPN’s “Mike and Mike” spoke about Kaepernick having possibly gotten that roster spot over Cutler. Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider told NFL Network that Kaepernick is committed to football. Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban offered his thoughts on the issue and speaking from the International Football Betting Conference former NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel said Kaepernick should be on an NFL roster.
Whether or not a team picks up Kaepernick remains a mystery, but those wanting to see him on the field will now make that known at the league offices.

Here’s the history on this controversial “knee”
49ers Quarterback Colin Kaepernick Defends National Anthem Protest
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick on Sunday defended his decision not to stand for the national anthem at a game two days earlier, saying he is protesting on behalf of people oppressed because of their race.
“This country stands for freedom, liberty, justice for all — and it’s not happening for all right now,” Kaepernick said.
Kaepernick did not stand as the national anthem played before a preseason game against the Green Bay Packers. The move sparked criticism, and some fans posted videos of themselves burning Kaepernick jerseys and other apparel. Kaepernick’s protest comes amid increased scrutiny over police use of force against African-American men and other minorities
Kaepernick said “police brutality” was one of the reasons he sat during the anthem.
“This is because I’m seeing things happen to people that don’t have a voice, people that don’t have a platform to talk and have their voices heard and effect change,” the quarterback said. “So I’m in a position where I can do that, and I’m going to do that for people that can’t.”
The 49ers in a statement called the national anthem a “special part of the pre-game ceremony” and “an opportunity to honor our country and reflect on the great liberties we are afforded as its citizens,” but said it respects the right of an individual not to participate.
The NFL said in a statement Saturday: “Players are encouraged but not required to stand during the playing of the National Anthem.”
Kaepernick acknowledged that some took his gesture as insulting the military but said, “that wasn’t my intention at all.”
Kaepernick said he will continue to sit during the anthem before NFL games. He said he has a platform to get his message across that others may lack.
This is the first year Kaepernick has remained seated during the national anthem. He said it was not tied to the presidential election, but described both candidates as being part of the problems he is protesting.
“I mean, you have Hillary, who has called black teens or black kids super predators. You have Donald Trump, who’s openly racist,” Kaepernick said.
Hillary Clinton in an April CNN debate said she regretted the use of that terminology, which she used in 1996 while defending her husband’s 1994 crime bill. Trump has denied he is a racist.
Kaepernick said he did not plan on the protest to get so much attention, but added, “the fact that it has blown up like this, I think is a good thing.”
“Now I think people are really talking about it, having conversations about how to make change, what’s really going on in this country and we can move forward,” Kaepernick said. Source NBC News

I’m a bettor based in southern Nevada and it’s kind of shocking that no one has raised the real issue involving Kap. Plain and simple, he is just a shitty quarterback. Period. He chokes. He constantly leaves the pocket leaving him prone to injury. I mean, he can’t win games. That simple. Any team in the NFL would suit up Ted Bundy of Bundy was capable of winning games. If Kap was even a mediocre quarterback he would have been signed a long time ago.
The fact that Kap sucks as a quarterback is the only viable issue here.
On more tidbit. If you throw down some money on the Baltimore Orioles today, you’ll cash a ticket and win some cash.
have you heard most ex pro footballers have irreversible brain trauma/damage
admitted radicals?
how many people do you know who admit they are radicals? LOL
anyway? why are you ate a mosque when NFL rally is about him getting a job. What Colin Kaepernick personally does is good work. Or are you not allowed to give food to those in need?
Sounds like bullshit to me.
If I emailed you and said Trump told me he was planning to go out and stomp some queers down on Sunset, would you believe that too?
The NFL doesn’t like Kaepernick, and he sucks at football.
I don’t know anyone who gives a rat ass if the spoiled asswipe starves to death. Do you?
I think that We (the patrons), should be able to demand a little respect from the players. After all, we always wind up paying for the stadium, then pay to park there, and then pay to get in. Not a bad way to make a living. So they can just keep there feelings to themselves like we do. It is our stadium, parking lot and seats to sit in. I bet every business wish they could get the same kind of deal. Besides, He was offered spot, but turned it down, saying it wasn’t enough money.
